Philly Food Hot Spots brought to U by Jawswoop & dc_dude

Tourist trap? No Sir! I disagree! Delasandros is my number 1 goto cheese-steak spot.

When I'm in town it's literally majority locals when I go.

Parking can be a beast when it's crowded but that's a small point.

I always wonder what people who live across the street from the park think as customers are constantly parking and leaving all day long.
Just go to fucking Stella's or Cafe Carmella's. I'm not going to go back and forth.

I swear I could get life in prison behind mayo, that nasty shit sends me into a blind rage I can't stand the sight or smell of it!
#metoo :smh: :angry: :tut:

I be hearing their steak isn't all that. But people gonna always go to the ones the media tells them about the most which be genos and Jim's.

Lines be long as shit at Jim's especially the one in West Philly, me and my folks tried to get a cheese steak over there but left because the line was too long .
That's the joint on South St right? The black and white building?

I’ll never be sold on Pat’s or Geno’s tourist steaks.

Never.

I can dig it !
It's crazy when even if you are a tourist you just don't ask damn this is what the hype is about ? This shit sux !!!

I am from Chicago and and I was traveling to the east coast and I hit both spots. I am initially thought whats the hype ? This shit is trash !!!

I was getting better steaks in Chicago !!!

Yea man, those steaks are terrible IMO. They don’t even try but I get if you not familiar with Philly, you could easily get caught up. It happens. Just know to keep it moving and don’t go back.

I’m not gon derail this thread too much but i’m heading to Chicago in November. Here’s what I got on ya cities list so far:

- Giardano’s
- Lou Malnati’s
- Chicago Grinder & Oven Co
- Portillo’s Chicago Dogs
- Bavettes
- NADC Burger
- Cleo’s Southern Cuisine

Any of these tourist traps???

I can dig it. I simply enjoy my autonomy too much for public transportation but respect.
Yeah, but I don't like to deal with parking meters and have to pay for a parking space in the parking lot. Plus, it's good exercise walking.

If there was somewhere to park, I wouldn't mind driving there.

To each their own.

I'm only speaking for myself.

Better than Lorenzo’s? That’s the last spot I went to when I was in Philly about 2 years ago.

I went to another spot on South Street but can’t think of the name of it right now.

Ishikibbis??

Lorenzo's on 9th Street in South philly cheese steaks is good.

It's not hard at all, if you know your way around Philly, it's easy.

But I can say the same about NYC because I don't know my way around NYC because I never lived there.

lol. If you know your way around any city it's easy.

I'm in reference to the subway - SEPTA. In NYC it's no more than a block or two away whereas in Philly the public trans is more problematic - but also as I said because I'm not familiar with it.

Not so much tourists traps, we really eat at these places because they are staples in our diet and the food is fire, and they are famous because of it.

- Giardano’s - Thin crust pizza

- Lou Malnati’s - Deep dish pizza

- Chicago Grinder & Oven Co - Pizza pot pie

- Portillo’s Chicago Dogs - Chicago dog, do not ask for ketchup you might get shot. We dont play that ketchup shit.

- Bavettes - Steak

- NADC Burger - My daughter says they got the best burger on the planet, I havent been yet

- Cleo’s Southern Cuisine - Have not been

Put these on the list !

Als beef - A must have ! Italian beef, with giardinara, dipped ! Do not leave Chi without having a beef or a beef combo with italian sausage !

Vienna beef - The hot dog factory where every hot dog place in Chicago gets hot dogs ! The deli sandwiches are fire too, corned beef is smackin !

Chinatown - Go visit, every restaurant is good !

Pequods - Pizza any kind, any time ! They know pizza !

Bills drive in - Personal fav burger spot

Athenian room or Mr gyro - Chicago got great gyros !

@jack walsh13
@the artist
@doe moe
@DC_Dude
@TheFuser
@Simply Sickenin'
@DJ

He was valid until he mentioned Pats and Genos.
Jim's should have been on that list for sure !!!
I am getting to cleavers asap !

Whats yall thoughts ?

I’ve been to Cleavers a few years ago, but to me Lorenzo’s is the best.

I figured it would be mentioned because the last few times I’ve gone to Philly the lines have always been wrapped around the building.

Ishkabibbles is one that a lot of people talk about, but I wasn’t that impress. It was ok.

Good lookin out on the Italian beef reminder. I’ve heard great things about em. Def adding those you mentioned to the list.

Imma have to spend some time walking that Magnificent Mile.

You can get italian beef at Portillos, I just think Al's is better.

If you havent tried a pizza puff make sure you get one, you can get the just about any hot dog or hamburger spot. They are not healthy by any means, just a deep fried pastry pocket of sauce, cheese and meat, absolutly delicious !
