thanks for the chart

and thanks Tripster for the Blunt Ownage!

perfect.

8 Ball & MJG only released 1 single and 1 video "relax and take notes".I can't see someone selling alot of records off of 1 single unless the song was real hot.The Young Buck album isn't on the list because it hasn't been a full week yet & wassup with white people stealing our music? :hmm: I just found out this reggae guy collie buddz was white when I watched his video on B.E.T.

Yes, she does deserve credit, but she did NOT have the BEST performance on that album. We know who did. No, I am not wack, but you are an emotional headcase.

Hits don't matter, record sales do. Ask the Executives. Hits only matter to the degree that they cause people to go out and by the album or the single. Yeah, the artist will get paid for spins, but that's drop in the bucket money. You gotta sell albums. Period. You brought up the points that make JT's performance even MORE impressive. Out for 3 years, and can come back and sell 3.5 domestically. Bey has been in our face CONSTANTLY for 6 years, she had the advantage.

What female artists do I hate, Blunt? I've spoken only FACT, and those facts are indisputable. I don't make it an emotional issue, but obviously you do. :smh: How is stating the fact that Bey's latest album was not as big of a success as her debut trashing her??? You TRASH black male hip-hop artists (never seen you say anything about Eminem) with impunity, but when someone doesn't slobber at Beyonce's feet, you get defensive like you are getting paid for anything she does. See, you can grade her on a curve if you want to, but the fact of the matter is, she hasn't sold as much this go around, but I hope she does better on the next album. End of story.

Best ANALYTICAL ownage I've seen in a long while

You sent Blunt scurrying back in retreat to the lands of Google and TMZ

LOL @ Blunt trying to analyze and talk shit. She's the same one that said Beyonce was going to outsell Justin Timberlake, because Dreamgirls would push her sales over the top.

Stop owning yourself.

Are you on crack? You're the fool who said Beyonce's album was a FLOP!!

You're just plain dumb and worthless. Dude is still tryin' to "justify" his nonsense.

I knew that black men hated/envied black women, but this is ridiculous.

Is there someone here who can translate what this fool just said into a coherent thought? All I see is gibberish.

Uhhh, the true "singing star" NAME in that cast is Beyonce's. With several tracks on the album (including an Oscar-nominated one) she obviously has SOMETHING to do with the album's success. It was selling even before the film came out. You're really gettin' desperate to trash her now. (Rookie Hudson's one shining moment was easily downloadable as a single, though it did little on the charts. Nonetheless, she and everyone else who sings on the album deserves credit for its success, along with "lead singer" Beyonce)

Hits don't matter, record sales do.

Uhhh, Beyonce obviously has both. (And hits do help sell albums, especially if an album features several.)

You brought up the points that make JT's performance even MORE impressive. Out for 3 years, and can come back and sell 3.5 domestically. Bey has been in our face CONSTANTLY for 6 years, she had the advantage.

More like 10 years. But you're really confused. JT hadn't released an album since '02. Lack of supply increases demand, dope. He's naturally gonna do well, though not extremely so (given the slow sales period). Neither of his albums has sold as much as Beyonce's 4M-selling earlier one and they've just barely matched the 3M-selling Destiny's Child final one.

Beyonce has now released 5 albums (group, solo and soundtrack) since '03 (selling a combined 12M domestically). There's obviously a ton of supply of her product out there, which should lessen demand. It hasn't. Of course, producing record-breaking hit after hit (group and solo) since '03 hasn't hurt keeping her fresh.

What female artists do I hate, Blunt?

Beyonce.

I've spoken only FACT, and those facts are indisputable.

Your SPIN on certain so-called "facts" is HIGHLY "disputable." Saying 2.3M in sales so far (following up a 4M debut and subsequent 3M and 1M and 1M sellers within the last two years, not to mention a 1M-selling video collection) is somehow a negative is not a "fact," it's a heavily-biased opinion. It's a SEARCH for a "fact" that supports your negatively-biased point-of-view. Few artists (if any) follow-up their MEGA-smashes will equal sellers. It's just dumb to expect that. (I guess Beyonce actually failed when her first solo album didn't match the 8M sales of the previous Destiny's Child album, which came during a heavy-buying era?)

How is stating the fact that Bey's latest album was not as big of a success as her debut trashing her???

Because that's like saying Michael Jordan's scoring 50 points in a game "is not as big of a success" as his scoring 63 points in a game. Anyone doing that would be considered an idiot with an agenda. Both are enormous feats. Exact duplication is not expected, nor necessary. There's a specific context to each. In fact, the 50 points might be more significant than the 63.

Following up a SMASH 4M seller with a solid 2.3M seller (including a 541,000 first week) in this lousy record-selling climate is still immense (as is her continuing hit parade). That doesn't even take into account her recent group and soundtrack sales. There's only so much Beyonce-consumer money to go around. Despite all that, she still has one of the top-sellers of the year.

It's clear that you've simply chosen to take a minimalist approach in analysis (because it suits your purpose). You don't really know or care about the actual details.

And there's no good reason to even compare JT with Beyonce. They're not competing. That's just more evidence of your desperation and selective reasoning. Why not compare her with Furtado, Aguilera, Fergie and Stefani instead, each of whom she swamped. She's also pretty much matched Blige's monster album.

You TRASH black male hip-hop artists (never seen you say anything about Eminem) with impunity, but when someone doesn't slobber at Beyonce's feet, you get defensive like you are getting paid for anything she does.

LOL. Your agenda is clear now. So my supposed "bashing" of male hip-hop artists really hurts your feelings. That's just a conscious reversal of the typical female-bashing you and others do around here (which this thread exemplifies).

Don't think I've ever made your type of claims about record sales though. Last year T.I. led all rappers in sales with just 1.7M. That's certainly not a great figure by historical standards, but I would still call it quite a success by today's standards. It's all about perspective.

See, you can grade her on a curve if you want to, but the fact of the matter is, she hasn't sold as much this go around, but I hope she does better on the next album.

What you're missing is that there was no reason to expect her to sell "as much." NO ONE is selling that much, especially veteran artists. (Last year's overall top-seller sold just 3.7M.) Idiot. The problem with your whole argument (bashing) is that you've set up a "straw man" (she must match last album's sales!!) to support your thesis and then proceeded to tear it down, as if it really meant anything in the first place.
