To have a fucking credit card machine. I swear to god I pass up a cut sometimes because I have no actual cash on me. It can't cost that much to add one right? If they was smart they''d let you swipe ya card for a cut n car wash.

No they dont, the barbers and the people in the majority of the times are crooks, looking to come up on something or just down right hoodlums. You want me to swipe my card around a bunch of cats who talk about the latest scemes, who went to jail and who's on their way?fuck noooo.

Ill pay cash and besides its to much going on as it is to just be swiping cards and shit.

i hear ya...who carries cash anyway? i cant remember the last time i carried cash in my wallet.

They pay a fee to use credit cards. They could simply have an ATM installed.

Plus barbershops are cash business and most don't claim ALL the income.

It also probably won't work because you have the owner of the shop and most of the other barbers don't actually work for him. They rent a chair which makes them more or less independent contractors. A card machine would mean the money goes to the shop and they would have to rely on the barber to keep their money straight

What kind of shop do you go to? If I can't take my son, i'm not going in. :smh:

The shops I get the tighest cuts have the most gutter negros in there cutting. Technology above a cell phone or game system ain't on their radar. Plus, it's a cash business for a reason.

Rick Ross........

Both of you have valid points...my barber has numerous side hustles, and I'm sure he makes it a point to be paid only in cash so he doesn't have a paper trail to declare on his taxes for those wages. But, as a customer, it's mad annoying when you gotta go by the ATM every time you go to the barber shop.

Yeah its a nuissance. Sometimes you roll to the old nieghborhood. You see no vehicles there and be like let me get cleaned up. No wait no cash on my pockets. Fuck I get jealous when I see white people in Visible Changes with them CC machines on the front desk. Must be nice to get cleaned up while you shop. Or like the Barber Shop shirts they sell in there. I've never brought one because I don't have the extra cash to get one.

I understand the so-called "convenience" argument for using a credit card, but...

that has to be one of the dumbest uses of bank credit there is.

You want to go to a bank, to get a loan, to get a haircut?

Shit, I just wish all shops made you take a number when you walk in. My old old old old barber used to do that, at least on really busy days, and it cut down on the confusion a lot. At the one I go to now, I gotta keep an eye on the door and remember who came in after me, and who was waiting when I got there.

Today, I got busy reading an article in magazine (ok...busted, actually I was looking at pictures of Kim and Kourtney Kardashian in bikinis in a mag) and I missed a a guy coming in... so when I was pretty sure it was my turn, we had a little standoff at the chair. I refused to back down, and luckily, although I didn't see him come in, I was pretty sure he wasn't i there when I came in, and finally the barber took my side :D

When I actually go,I go to a regular BLACK barber shop that you will find in any urban neighborhood across america.

Cats done been robbed in barber shops, fighting in barber shops, shot and killed in barbershops, baby momma drama in barbershops.Dont think its just the young barber shops some of the older man get in there and get to argueing over checkers, and saying shit like "You's a motherfucking Lie",someome owing them five dollars and the street numbers man hanging out.

Some of the craziest things go on in salons and barber shops,or people saying the craziest things...

Carry Cash because you go there for a haircut and walk out that motherfucker with a bootlegg dvd,psp & games, your kid some clothes or the latest stolen cellphone.

you have heard of a debit card right

I just got through telling my barber this yesterday!! Dude was looking at me crazy when I suggested it.

Damn, so cash has gone the way of tapes, vhs, and cds, don't need it no more, ain't no one told me, I thought I was up on the latest trends, glad I came in this thread.

*** goes in wallet, rips up that obsolete paper money ***

Another thing, the shop owner dont have time to be dealing with no paperwork, calling banks, charge backs and all of that silly shit that goes along with swipping a card.

Besides he would have to deal with cats cards being denied,a cat asking for change back because he over paid and the killer is a customer using a stolen card for a crisp edge up.That would just fuck up the flow of even wanted to own a shop.

You can put an ATM in there but whats the chances of someone ripping that motherfucker off the wall and dragging the machine down the block?very high...

You have to pass a credit check to qualify for a merchant account. Not everyone can have one. There's a lot of sensitive data on those receipts, card #"s mainly

For merchants, Cash > Credit, cuz they don't have to pay fees to the cc companies. The places that do except credit, only do so because they don't want risk losing customers to there competitors.

Barbers are amongst one of the few businesses left where most people expect to have to pay cash and will do so. However, there's a limit to what most people will spend with cash. Since most keep raising their prices coupled with the fact that many cheap fast food places now take cards means that they're going to have to start taking cards.

One potential issue is that many barbers rent their chair, so a centralized system for the shop may prove cumbersome. However, thanks to technology, there are systems being developed where people would be able to except cards on their smartphones, thus alleviating this issue.

This could prove especially beneficial if you're the only barber in the shop who takes cards.

i got next in the chair the dude who got up before me decides to pay with a card something goes wrong then i have to sit there and wait for however long it takes for him and the barber to get the situation worked out... naw my barber can continue to be cash only.

Which is still a "credit" card.

Just because the banks change the name, doesn't mean it is not still a loan.

how is the bank giving me a loan on my money? if i dont have the money to cover a purchase the bank is not going to say here just pay us back when you can.

Actually, they do.

Bank of America was one ridiculous example of extending you credit, beyond your balance, and then hitting you with $35 overdraft fees on each purchase thereafter.

And, yes, the bank is giving you a "loan" on your bank account. Outrageous, isn't it?

Yea, because cc payments traditionally take so much longer than cash

Something could go wrong on any payment, yet still the average cc payment time is low. As in the odds of you waiting some significant amount of time isn't very high at all.

the odds are low too when you go to the stores but that one time that it does happen it pisses you off.

I do see your point about a CC machine or ATM in a barbershop, but there's too much stuff that can go wrong with it, and barbers are used to doing cash-only business...

I am with the poster who said that barbers should put in a "take-a-number" system...I have seen Brothers fight over something like this, and people trying to cut in line has caused me to not go back to many a barbershop...

 at the nigga who thinks a debit card is the same as a credit card. some of us work for companies that have credit unions who don't charge us to use our bank cards. they actually give up perks for doing so.

I wouldn't use a credit card machine, all the surveillance going on, plus the fees. The government can look at any transaction, it is no longer $10,000. The banks will be sitting on it, watching everything and reporting. Finally, they are a black business, they will flying drones over that shit, having the cops watch and report, opening a file on you, running a background check on everybody; treating the business as a threat.

Anyways, the information can be subpoenaed and used against you.
