As you rightly pointed out, alot of people regardless of race seem to have a problem with making decisions that work out for the greater good of all as opposed to a few.
The media does what it's allowed to do because rather than taming the beast, many court it for personal gain or to score cheap, political points only to find themselves being bitten in the ass by the self-same serpent they were holding close.
In the end, the one thing that has come out of this whole "non-issue" is that some people are prepared to make an issue out of anything if it makes it easier for them to remain within their selective comfort zones.
Barack Obama's credibility took a major knock the minute he threw his Reverend of 20 years under the bus without making sure that he'd totally run him over.
There was no point in Obama saying he wouldn't be able to disown Rev Wright at that point.
Rev Wright like most human beings felt justifiably aggrieved and is now exacting his pound of flesh from Obama as he continues enlightening the willingly blind to a truth they consistently choose to ignore.
In the end, everyone loses and things go back to "business as usual" in Washington.

Hillary hasn't even uttered a word about that issue because she has no interest in injustice done to Sean Bell and his family.
But Al Sharpton has nothing to say to Hillary.

^^^Once again, no one's disputing that Rev Wright isn't truth spitting. What some are questioning, is the motivation behind him spitting at this particular time.
Rev Wright is no fool and should've known how the media would've pounced on any opportunity for him to feed them with more soundbite worth material.
He could've side stepped the issue until a more appropriate time but chose not to for reasons best known to him.

Obama's his own person most of the time but he could do with a backbone implant.
If he didn't want Reverend Wright to drop him in the proverbial shit, he should have spoken to Rev Wright to let him know exactly how he felt about the lay of the land.
Alternatively, when the shit hit the fan a few months back, Obama could have seized on the media frenzy surrounding Rev Wrights so-called controversial topics to really drive home the way in which the media feed oxygen to the flame of conflict by way of negative news generation and 24/7 distortion of facts into fiction.
He could have supported Rev Wright rather than clumsily trying to distance himself from the Reverends statements whic were in fact anything but controversial to those with open minds and clear perspectives.

A true Christian is just as human as anyone else and as such is not immune to feeling slighted or let down by a trusted friend or family member. Being a "true" Christian does not prevent a person from still excercising caution and tact when dealing with the world around them.
Reverend Wright's courting of the press and the spotlight at this point, may or may not have been ego driven but the cat could have been a a lot more tactful in his approach to this matter.
If Obama threw Jeremiah Wright under the bus, Reve Wright has in turn, thrown Senator Obama under a muthafucking Sherman Tank.

But their peeps manage to keep their mouths shut(With the exception of Big Bill Clinton) and you never rarely get to hear about any the juicy scandals that surround McCain or Hillary Clinton from their inner circle.
^^^We are seeing the effect of black people in the 21st century still refusing to handle their business, come together and build somethin lasting and strong without it falling to pieces because one or two "bricks" decide to go of on their personal tangent leaving the building of their ambition to come crashing down to the ground.
