Somebody Explain this new NFL Rule it is confusing as hell

Teams that win the opening coin toss now have the option to defer the decision until the start of the second half, the same as in college football.

Ok I always thought that if you win the toss you have the option to receive, kick (which I thought meant defering to the second half) or picking your goal.

So what this new rule mean, if you win the toss you can choose to kick or receive and then choose to kick or receive again after half time?

Prior to this season, teams that won the coin toss had to decide whether they wanted to recieve or kick - the other team then gets to choose at the beginning of the 2nd half. So, if a team won teh toss and elected to kickoff, the other team could choose to receive in the 2nd half and they would have received both kickoffs.

Now, the team that wins teh toss has the choice to make the decision at the beginning of the game or defer their choice to the beginning of the 2nd half. So if I team wins the toss and prefers to receive the ball at the beginning of the 2nd half, tehy now have the option to let the other team chose in 1st and they can choose in the 2nd half.

THIS IS HOW COLLEGE HAS ALWAYS BEEN (AND HOW IT PLAYS IN MADDEN - which was incorrect until now)
