Freakonomics Pod had a fairly recent episode on 10 Myths about the US Tax System.
*the expert economist is Trans so I won't post it*
However, they discussed how Medicaid/ Medicare came to be, how it runs at a deficit consistently and ways to make it more affordable...... (one of which is reduce outrageous Healthcare costs)....
And that we as a country far out spend Medicaid/ Medicare costs on the interest on our current national debt...... and how in 30 years that interest will be a large portion of our GDP if nothing changes.....
It was pretty interesting because cutting Medicaid/ Medicare is a very small way to help offset the economic fallout from the crippling 2017 tax cuts Drump is going to renew. Reducing the debt or Drumpf spending less than his first term would have bigger impacts on the fiscal budget.
