This is why I don't watch the news. I've told this story before.
I had a buddy who was a cool dude but a super nerd. He would just randomly get degrees. Last I heard he had like 12. Well, there was an explosion at a building near where his bus stop was. He called his boss, told him he was going to be late and waited for the news to show up.
He was interviewed by the news, and told a bunch of us when he got to work but he was going to be on the news, and that we should watch. He wore a sport coat every day, Penny loafers, that sorta deal.
We all watched the news And who did we see interviewed when that story came up:
- A 65-year-old black man with about 7 teeth in his mouth that looked homeless
- A Black in her 50s in One of those sheer house gowns looking like sweet brown "ain't nobody got time for that"
Both of which spoke broken English, when my friend would have been the perfect interview. However, on that side of town they didn't want to convey having smart black people over there. They wanted to convey it as the hood, the ghetto, where ignorant, poor black people live.
He was interviewed by two stations, neither one showed his interview. Each one showed the worst example of a black person they could find
