This is something that plagues our community. Black people, particularly the younger ones, have a difficult time being, not doing anything, just being black. People try to take our blackness away from us as if that's possible. The Theo's of the world want to hang out in the projects and down the way with Lil Wayne because they are made to feel as if being poor equates to blackness and without that part of the experience there are somehow less than or not really black.
