I was running errands and picking up a dvd at Blockbuster back in the day. Mid-20s at the time and got to talking to the clerk. He noted he was tired - working at Blockbuster and Starbucks. Noted he had 2 degrees but was having trouble finding work. That was an eye opener for me, especially given his solid educational background. He said he felt like he was spinning his wheels and sort of aimless. I told him to stay focused and keep applying to jobs left and right. Treat it very seriously and he’ll land something worthwhile!
The problem is that there's a bunch of people out there that looked down on being a plumber or electrician. A lot of them not realizing how much those dudes make cause they live in rentals and don't pay for the work they are getting done on their place.
You want a plumber to come to your house...$200 minimum.
You want your dishwasher repaired.... $80 just to look at it.
Same with electricians.

Good points.
And then people have the nerve to
complain about the costs after the fact. Not realizing they needed specialized work done ASAP! People need to see the big picture.
Yep. If you're not a homeowner you tend to not have a clue about the cost of repairs to your home.
If my 16 yr old told me he wants to be a plumber or electrician I would IMMEDIATELY be all in with getting him training cause I know how much I dropped to those dudes.
