still true, first time in VA me and homies watching traffic waiting for break to cross street all of a sudden no cars moving past, we didnt realize they stopped for us to cross. "this shit dont happen in NYC"
That's been your experience and that's fine, but outside of the occasional waving and people saying hello I've never experienced any OD, borderline caricature, graciousness and hospitality that is often spoken about. Be it hyperbole or just a stereotype, I'm aware of it so I find the jokes funny regardless of how inaccurate or stupid I find them
