Re: So who is going to by a drone this holiday season?

Yeah I have the latest Phantom. Haven't flown in a while. I'm heading to Belize in a few days, I'm trying to decide if I should take it or not and get some footage....

Re: So who is going to by a drone this holiday season?

Thought about it but haven't done much research. The prices and builds seem to be all over the place and I have a habit of letting my toys collect dust.

I'm also concerned about future/current changes in the law about using drones.

That's why I'm muxed on taking it or not. Not sure if I should, or just leave it at home. Too expensive to go there and deal with bullshit.

They are working it out but it looks promising

Re: So who is going to by a drone this holiday season?

it don't matter.

you got assholes that are buying them and doing stupid shit with them and that's why the feds are putting regs on them right now.

now a bunch of them are being bought for children and assholes who are going to fuck up a great hobby for those of us who flies safely and within the rules.

i give it another year and they're gonna ban them all together.
:smh:

Re: So who is going to by a drone this holiday season?

I've already got a small $100 one but am still learning how to fly it. It gets so high and travels so far that I'm usually afraid I'm going to lose track of it.

Re: So who is going to by a drone this holiday season?

I've been thinking about buying a kite for the lil ones...
Was thinking how fun it was to see my kite way way up there...

Adding another event to our family day...

Said all that to say how much times changed...

We buying drones, like really a fucking drone

looking at getting the 4K Phantom 3 soon.

One of my boys knows a dude who is making a killing in using these for real estate presentations. Dude makes 3D property videos. His clients love them. And he also does event coverage with his drones too.

I am about to steal X-Mas from my boy back in Oakland. I am going to get his 12yr old one.

I think the DJI is the Caddy 4 sure.

But I cant lie the youtube ads for the Parrot Bebop & its slick ad got me second guessing.

A 12 year old needs an entry level just in case he kills it & his pops is going to have to replace it.

I ran into some Arab kids playing with one. And I may get one for myself. Its dope. I am going to buy before black Friday & all that bullshit.

Devin the Drone Legend.

I like Parrots hand set/remote better.

In my unenlighted days , this Drone would have been a woo.

Tight. I was leaning towards the phantom, but that waterproof feature puts this one up. Software & camera looks just as good as the DJI models too. And it looks a little more compact. Gotta do some research.

For me it doesn't matter. If that's the average flight time for the better rated drones they just became very unnecessary.

You guys go for it.

i get a lot of flying done in 20 minutes.

...plus i have 6 batteries.

shit is a dope hobby especially if you're into high quality aerial photography.

Your only getting 20 minutes of flight time?

It's more like 22-23 minutes. That's why you get two batteries. Trust me on one thing, 20 minutes in the air is a long time.

I own the Parrot Bebop and I only get 12 minutes with that one.
And the Parrot controls on the phone are terrible.

23 minutes in flight is DAMN good, It's not like you take off and immediately have to land.

The Phantom 4k is VERY worth it, it already has the built in Gimble, so you are already good for stable shots. Here's one of my vids.

I shot this around my parents property and my neighborhood.

You really sound like someone who hasn't flown one. You don't need to be in the air for 3 hours. I shoot for a rap video company for money and most shots we get are in 2-3 (at most 5 minutes)...trust me 20 minutes in your hand is a loooooong time....22 minutes (minus commercials) is a regular sitcom and that doesn't feel short to me. You land, swap batteries and your off again....

I've been wanting one for a minute.

Can anyone recommend a good starter for a newbie but one you would not outgrow too quickly?

Go ahead and just get a phantom. It's worth it. All those little cheap ones are trash.

this.

but when you first start flying, be sure to find a giant field with NO trees wires or other objects and learn to fly it there.

it won't be long before you're good at it.

Just what i need another $1500 hobby. Wife trying to get me to buy the wolf kitchen appliances right now. If I do it, thats gonna be 11k easy.

Do i need this drone? no. Do I want it? yes?

Will I get it? Its only a matter of time. Gotta start putting some shit in moition.

Has anyone used/seen the 3DR Solo? I was thinking I would try it but it doesn't come with a camera and I can't use the gopro cam I already have.

i would wait until jan or feb.

like 2015, they released the version 3 in FEB. after everyone got the xmas gifts.

I'll probably pull the trigger this season. Best Buy has the Phantom 3 Standard "On Sale" for $100 off. ($699) http://www.bestbuy.com/site/dji-pha...hite/4406800.p?id=1219743453736&skuId=4406800

I've been a fan of aviation for most of my life. I've met quite a few white-male-privilege types who get aviation certification "just because". The major university that I live near was the first to offer FAA UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) certification and the way the tech seems to be evolving, I'd like to have some certified skills in the hobby in case there are money making opportunities down the line.

I like this and it has the potential to be really big if they do some modifying to it in the future (making it able to roam in one's home, room etc.) The selfie stick will have a short run...

:eek::eek: That shit has to have the cats at GoPro shook as hell!

No go. It doesn't come with a gimbal. You have to pay extra for that $399.00 more. Without a Gimbal the video looks like shit. A lot of people on 3DR's Facebook page are complaining that the gimbals are stuck on back order. SO they bought this very expensive drone that shoots horrible shots UNTIL they get the again expensive $400 dollar part.
