The same guy who was fighting against the small market Owners in the 90's is now leading the charge for them??

So basically Jordan will lead a group of owners to vote against the 50-50 tomorrow.

Before the Owners meet with the players tomorrow the owners will have their own meeting.

The owners’ faction includes between 10 and 14 owners and is being led by Charlotte’s Michael Jordan, according to a person who has spoken with the owners. That group wanted the players’ share set no higher than 47 percent, and it was upset when league negotiators proposed a 50-50 split last month.

According to the person who spoke with the owners, Jordan’s faction intends to vote against the 50-50 deal, if negotiations get that far. Saturday’s owners meeting was arranged in part to address that concern.

A majority of the 29 owners are believed to support a 50-50 deal, but they are reluctant to move further.

“There’s no one who’s interested in going above 50 percent,” said the person who has spoken with the owners.

Despite the misgivings of some owners, Commissioner David Stern has said publicly that he can garner support for a 50-50 deal and will continue pushing for it. But the longer the negotiations drag on, and the more games are canceled, it is more likely that the hard-line owners will demand reductions.

Wanna see some ironic shit an article from 1999. Saying now that the 99 lockout was over. Jordan is the key to win back all the fans the NBA lost during the lockout. We all know how that went. MJ retire and the NBA has been going down ever since well except for this passed year when the NBA had it's best year since Jordan was in the league.

When you go from employee to employer interest change...

I get that but again Kenny Smith and others were wondering why MJ was so quiet. Saying if anyone that could help the players and let the owners see their point it would be a former player.

Hell some writers were calling out Melo Ray Allen CP3 and ever basketball player under the Jordan Brand saying how can they be under someone who has been hush mouth.

I know Jordan is going do what's best for him. If it's best for him to push the players off the cliff not only will he do it he will set them on fire too.

Still pretty ironic the guy who was calling out small market owners is now leading them.

The guy who people said was the only one could save the NBA after the 99 lockout is the one that is helping ruining it.

basically...but still....

I wonder will grudges move on from this to the outside businesses. if I was adidas or Puma I would be making calls to stars trying to convince them to jump to my company as soon as the deal was done......

It happen in the last one? Patrick Ewing admitted that after Union rift some players (Oak) took things personal.

Still though. This is still the guy that many players right now still admire but again this is a business.

There is some irony that the player turned owner is basically saying

FUCK THESE PLAYERS

As CB just said if you are a player how do you ignore this

When you go from employee to employer interest change...

Exactly.

And you can tell from most of the responses on this board that most people here are employees, not employers!

50/50 is a HUGE concession by the players, the owners should jump on that deal, I'm kinda surprised that it ever got tilted so far towards the players to begin with!

Homie Jordan side doesn't want 50-50 they want 53-47 in their favor. That happens the chance of a season is a wrap.

Yeah, I know, that's why I said that the owners should jump on 50/50, completely flipping the split IS NOT going to happen!

Where is the compromise?

my bad.

There is none. Jordan and his click want a totally victory they have already got nearly everything else they wanted.

Give the players the split.

Jordan is saying fuck these guys. 50-50 is too good for them.

The players came down from 57 they want them at 47???:lol::lol::lol:

GTFOH. Now if the season is cancel and that is the offer on the table I see the players taking it but Good Lord can they at least give the players something??

DWade needs to holla at his boy :lol:

True, my point was for the players to even come down to 50/50 is huge but I think that Jordan is actually using his experience as a player and realizing that a majority of the players, while being very well paid, still live essentially from check to check.

He probably feels that they will break and agree to anything in order to get the checks flowing again.

Put it this way, any player willing to go down to 47% will be deemed a crackhead!

Sad.

Oh this is for the homie DTown

http://espn.go.com/dallas/nba/story...ers-proposal-keep-re-signing-dallas-mavericks

Tyson was one of the players who was not happy with everything the union gave up. He has said the CBA they are agreeing on would make it impossible for him to return to Dallas.

Question

Just how much money does Tyson want?????????

Seems like he wants a max deal :smh:

I was cool with 10 million per but im sure there are teams that will offer more than that

A player like Chandler is only good on a good team though, you cant build around him

Yea only reason I ran across this cause the Nets were going to go after him or Nene but that seem like it won't matter if they don't get Dwight or build a contender with this new CBA Deron is gone.:angry::angry:

You brought up a damn good point. Who isn't to say that MJ isn't the one telling the owners to keep the lockout going?

Remember MJ and Patrick wanted to decertify back in 95 but the Barkley and the rest voted against it and took the deal.

Jordan could be telling the owners. They will not sit out more than one season.

Indeed.

Fuck money grubbing Jordan.

He's a great player but it stops there.

Funny Jordan became the same type of owner he spoke against in the 90's.

Giving horrible contracts, horrible drafting and poor choices.

Dude gives Oakfor a contract he didn't deserve.

He drafts Adam Morrison after giving Gerald Wallace a contract extension.

He drafts Sean Mays. He passes on Brook Lopez against Larry Brown warnings.

Kwame Brown???

Trading Rip for Stack??

Come onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

Nene or Chandler are not players you break the bank for I thought the CBA was going to stop this bullshit?

Not surprised at all...Jordan has always been a take-no-prisoners go for it all type of guy....

He's a shit executive.

He should stick to what he does best, being a figurehead.

The players need to show the owners that they have the trump card. Ultimately the owners need the players to have fans come spend their money in their stadiums for them to profit. The players only need a place to play and the fans will come. I know its a little deeper than that but if it came down to no season the players could join up with a minor league team somewhere and still make millions and the owners would be ass out.

MJ hates today's player outside of Kobe and Wade so business is business. Why should he be doing any favors for his Jordan Brand players, especially when he knows none of them want to play in Charlotte. Last season there were rumors about Chris Paul wanting to play in Charlotte since he's from NC and Paul quickly put those to rest even though he's one of Jordan Brand's biggest players, even got his own shoe.

Jordan knows the players are soft

Some are complaining already and haven't even missed a check yet

and there lies the point. Owners and GM's will still make bad choices :lol::lol::lol:

:smh::lol::lol::lol:

I mean fuck they will know these guys a good starters but role players only and will still give them huge deals

I dont see shit changing!:lol::lol:

This is why I love the NFL first NBA 2nd, dudes out there EARNING that money and you see the product of it on the field

Sup E and good point

I said well before the lockout started, I thought the owners were going to use the NHL lockout as the format. That is why ive thought we would miss an entire season. They are going to really go after these cats and completely restructure the league..... and now knowing that MJ is leading the charge..:smh::smh::smh::smh: this might get really ugly because that dude doesnt let up

why should he??

He has become the same person he criticize during the 90's

why should any player come to charlotte MJ hasn't done shit

Herein lies the problem with the players.

They enjoy all of the assets/profits of playing in the NBA, but NONE has any idea of the liabilities!

MILLIONS, I repeat, MILLIONS would first have to be spent to first set up a league with a schedule, but first arenas would have to be leased/rented, advertising done (easy in the days of Twitter!) refs and how they would get paid, but most importantly, INSURANCE would have to be taken out on all arenas and (hopefully) on the players against injury.

There are SOOO many more liability issues in terms of insurance it would make the common man's head spin!

Players do NOT have any idea of what's involved in setting up and running a league!
