So I got followed by a cop tonight ....

Come back when something happens in the middle of the night and the police don't show up and start the what are you paying them for and how if it was a white hood they would have been there in 30 seconds.

i actually live about a quarter mile from our town's city hall and the main police station ... it's not a very big town .. but the police patrol it like there's a stash house on every corner ... and i think this is about my 5th interaction with the police out here...in about 8 years ...

so if i call 'em i expect them to show up promptly and do their jobs properly and by the book ..like the professionals they are supposed to be... so if/when there's an arrest of a suspect... the case doesn't get thrown out on a technicality ...

SIDENOTE: when i saw the cop double back and follow me on my return trip...i made sure i didn't jaywalk or anything...i made extra sure that red hand had turned into a white guy walkin' before i took one step off that curb ...

they don't have to beat our asses any more ... because we're so programmed to tell them whatever they wanna know ... whenever they wanna know it ....

You sound like you got the B&E down to a science..:lol:

Most property theft happens at night.

btw Texas adds an enhancement to sentencing for residential burglaries for that very reason. They say that you would expect someone to be home and that you would do bodily harm so you get more time for nighttime burglaries.

nah ...lol.. i used to be sort of like a door-to-door salesman briefly ... for a home alarm system company ... and that was part of my sales pitch ...

im a night owl too.

 there was no better way to handle it and get yourself one of these for the next time

looxcie-576x440.jpg

you gotta be careful taping cops now. Some jurisdictions have turned that shit into a crime. Yeah, I know, it's fucking absurd, but taping a cop without their consent can get you arrested in some spots.

What kind of neighborhood/area is this?

i would consider it middle class ...some homeowners...some renters ... a few small businesses ... a high school about 5 blocks south of where i live ... quite a few hispanics and whites... not that many blacks ...and most of the businesses are owned by koreans and indians ....

Listen the officer here was just doing his job preventing motherfuckers from breaking into cars and committing petty larcenies during the night. The shit happens all night every night across the country and it's one of those crimes that you don't even realize is a problem until it happens to you. There's so much big shit going on in the world, no one even thinks about shit like this until their co worker comes in to work on some "Somebody broke in my fucking car last night and stole my fucking GPS and CD's! He lucky I didnt catch his ass cause he'd have caught a couple hot ones!" :hmm:

I work the midnight shift and the morning shift officers give us all kinda shit cause of the larceny from auto reports they get every morning. Shit is a pain in the ass cause most time the deducible doesn't cover the shit stolen. Last Wed night one guy broke into 20 motherfucking cars. They had to send 3 officers to write ALL THOSE REPORTS. And guess what happened while they were tied up on that petty shit? A busy ass barbershop and 9 niggas inside got robbed.

The scenario you just described was nothing more than an officer creating a presence to deter this kinda crime along with any other type of shit people do under the cover of darkness. You niggas need to calm the fuck down sometimes. I guarantee that if you'd have simply said "hey officer I live around here. I'm a nightowl and I was just walking THESE HERE LETTERS to the mailbox." His ass would have kept it moving.

"AM I BEING DETAINED OR AM I UNDER ARREST":lol::lol::lol:

You people are funny as shit. We have bosses and supervisors that expect a certain level of WORK just like the rest of yall do. I bet if you got robbed while walking to that mailbox you'd have been mad as shit talking about WHY THE FUCK ARENT THE COPS WATCHING THE NEIGHBORHOOD AT NIGHT!?

Actually that cop was just doing his job. A good cop is suppose to protect the neighborhood by investigating suspicious or unusual behavior. Taking a walk to the mailbox 3am in the morning four blocks away is not normal behavior. He did not mess with you at all.

Ask yourself this question. What if the cop not stopped and that same person kicked in some families door killing the mother and father in front of their kids or robbed someone on the street.

I think the cop was fair in this situatuon

And the irony is he spent more time talking to the cop and prolonged the cop's presence...

How was the cop doing his job following him? How is walking a suspicious behavior? Was there a report of a crime? Did said individual act funny? Was he dressed differently than the community? I guess to some being Black is suspicious behavior. The cop should of asked his questions and then kicked rocks. Now what if a murder would of taking place while he was asking trivial questions. OP never said he was in a high traffic drug zone. It would of been a different situation if it would be a spot like on the Wire.

That's exactly why I asked, why didn't he just explain that he was going to the mailbox to us, but not the cop :smh:

Because he knew we would ask, why were you out at 3am Well that's the same fuckin thing the cop wants to know

Just heard on the news the other day that some tires were slashed in a neighborhood

Dude walking around at 3am in certain areas is suspicious.

Police patrol areas to deter crime and show a police presence. You don't know what sort of vandalism, robberies or burglaries have been going on in the area.

You don't know what was called in.

Sometimes I really wonder about BGOL. Not everything is a black and white thing. I would expect a cop to ask questions if a white man was just walking down the street.

cop is an ass - if you suspect me - then follow me everywhere I go. I know I'm not up to shit and I don't want to talk to him bcuz I'm not legally required to do so in this situation.
I have no problem with them following me around. Would be a waste of his time. I do most things at night too cuz it's quiet and few people around. I wouldn't want some pig-ass bothering me every time I go out.

Is complex an undercover cac? Cuz he's arguing for that cop bigtime! Cop could have followed OP to mailbox and back home. Then he could have pieced together what happened using his great police instinct. Yes...everything is about black and white. Don't ever forget it.

The cop's initial request was reasonable...he did become a dick imo but only after dude's response which was basically "mind your business" along w/ reciting the preamble of the constitution @ 3 in the morning instead of simply saying "I'm walking to the mailbox...is everything ok (or is there a problem)?"

OP could have just said "I live at XYZ address. I couldn't sleep so I'm taking a walk." That would have ended the whole conversation.

Next time simply say that you were going to the mailbox. If the cops try to continue the conversation then you can then say you wish not to talk. You went on the defensive and the cop was simply doing his job.

:smh::smh:

you niggas are stupid...and we wonder why so many of us are in prison.

if you had just said "i live back there, im just mailing off this letter up here to the mailbox" - that would have ended that "situation" in less than 40 seconds...he would have had no choice but to drive off.

but nah, that's giving in to police intimidation, that is a blow to your manhood, hell that would make you an uncle tom!...can't have that. :hmm:

- bingo. these dudes are like overgrown children...

3am i see somebody walking around in my neighborhood i'm following his ass too... :dunno:

btw in my opinion like i tell my students you smart ass defensive comments automatically makes you seem guilty of something

i'm not anti-police ... if the police wanna patrol my neighborhood all night ..i have no problem with that ... because i have no intention of breakin' any laws ...

but i don't have to prove i'm innocent ...

they have to prove i'm guilty ....

and many times they use your own words to convict you ...

if they have an open and shut case against you ... then there's no need for the interrogation ... arrest me...get me in front of a judge .. present your evidence ..and let a jury convict me ... why waste time .. when you could be out catchin' more bad guys ...

because they know ... a confession is the best evidence ... it beats eye witnesses, finger prints, even DNA ....

case in point ...a cop pulls you over .. and asks "do you know how fast you were goin'?" ...and you say "um...66" ..

and he says "do you know what the speed limit is?" ..and you say "um...65?"

right there...you have jus indicated that you knew you what the speed limit was and you knew you had exceeded it...

there's other examples with more severe consequences ... i.e. havin' your property seized, your car impounded, and 25 to life in jail ....

The scenario you just described was nothing more than an officer creating a presence to deter this kinda crime along with any other type of shit people do under the cover of darkness. "AM I BEING DETAINED OR AM I UNDER ARREST":lol::lol::lol:

a cop knows what that question means ...and what the implied meaning is ... it means i know my rights and i know i don't have to talk to you...

which means he's less (not more) likely to try some bull shit with me ... because i might know my way around the legal system ... and he's gonna have to answer for any bull shit he pulls ... possibly in a court of law...

You people are funny as shit. We have bosses and supervisors that expect a certain level of WORK just like the rest of yall do. I bet if you got robbed while walking to that mailbox you'd have been mad as shit talking about WHY THE FUCK ARENT THE COPS WATCHING THE NEIGHBORHOOD AT NIGHT!?

yeah...i spoke to a former cop...those police bosses ... expect their officers to write a certain amount of tickets each month... tickets...TICKETS!!

isn't that odd that the police are required to write a certain about of citations ...every month... why is that??

because citations are how cities generate revenue without raisin' taxes ...

so as i mentioned previously they create all these asinine rules ... that you can't help but violate ... if only by accident ...

the level of work i expect ...as the real boss ... is professionalism ... and to be left alone if there is no proof that i'm breakin' any REAL laws ....

murder, theft, rape, arson, fraud, battery, child molestation ... these are REAL laws..

speeding, jaywalking, prostitution, drug use, havin' a tail light out .. these are NOT real laws ...

OP could have just said "I live at XYZ address. I couldn't sleep so I'm taking a walk." That would have ended the whole conversation.

Imo he don't even need to say all that cuz that really isn't the cop business...cop just asked where he was going...reasonable question given the circumstances imo...no need to give the cop his address or explain his life saga...just I'm going to the mailbox officer...is everything ok...? 9x outta 10 the shit woulda been over w/ unless he was dealing w/ "supercop"

Im far from a cop lover but anytime i see them around here i nod like "yes" to let them kno i appreciate the presence.

I dont know about your city but dc cops are the coolest on the planet...even when you in violation they handle the shit proper

mostly black cops and treat black people with respect. priceless

Now these little mothafuckas come around here because its quiet
and steal cars and go into peoples sheds. I noticed blunt filling
on my steps and was pissed the fuck off..went around asking all my
neighbors did they see anyone on my steps and found out the kids
sat on my shit as a look out while breaking into my neighbors shed
across the street..so now i have phone numbers exchanged
between all of us and told them to be alert and communicate if
any strange shit is goin on ... and that none of my company
will ever be sitting on my front steps or porch at anytime
shit happened in broad daylight on a sunday during church hours...

All my neighbors know me since a 4 year old.

Im honestly glad/thankful i didnt catch em :smh:

Since no one else is going to take it there, then, I will.

This combative attitude displayed by the OP is more common to females and single mother reared offspring.

Men raised by both parents normally follow the path of least resistance and peep a situation before acting agitated or hostile.

Females have that attitude of "I'll say and do whatever the fuck I want without any repercussions". Then cry foul trying to gather support whenever repercussions hit. ("I never did nothing to deserve this!")

If it was obvious thugs (gang members, mafioso, cartel) instead of the police, would the OP have started with that same attitude? I bet he would have said "I'm not looking for trouble. I just want to mail a letter."

What the OP doesn't understand is this.

1....You don't have any rights in this world. It's up to you to prove them in a court of law.

2....Police and thugs have the advantage over your "minding your own business ass". So it's best not to set shit off before you secure your own safe passage.

The bitch-made starting unnecessary shit fool! :hmm:

I aint gonna bomb on you but watch how you handle yourself w police

they really can kill your ass for no reason and get away with it.

You will be laying there taking your last breaths mad as fuck cause you know you gone.

Please I see "funky white boys" get hemmed up all the time tryna be wise ass w/ the cops...I don't think anyone is defending the cop following him shining the light in his face but ppl are also not defending the op's response to what started out as a reasonable question

ridiculous or not. right or wrong.
the cop was going to do whatever he wanted.

should you incite him or deter him from fucking with you?

this endanger yourself to spite another person mentality really doesn't benefit the OP.

That has to be the RUDEST thing a cop has ever done to me and it happened in my first night in Oakland, CA. Im stopped at a 4way stop sign cop pulls up perpedicular to me and shines that damn light and I was blinded for about 15 seconds then he sped off. That was some bitch made shit.

just doing that is enough to deter a criminal from possibly thinking of committing a crime that community.....in his/her mind there is a police presence in this community so committing a crime here is not a good idea....

thats all...all that other shit is just harassment....my sis lives in the burbs I stay out there sometimes...I see all types of ppl walking their dogs....jogging at all times of the night....
