and I took some screen shots of some interesting tables

here's the link so you can look at the report. its 19 pages total but very interesting. I encourage you to post more screen shots of tables that you find interesting as well

http://www.census.gov/prod/2005pubs/censr-25.pdf

so here we go....

as you can see....70% of black women are single only after you add up the ones that have been married plus the ones that are separated, widowed, and divorced....interesting how statistics can be manipulated to fit an agenda

If they're not married, they are single. Regardless of past relationship status.

What is your hypothesis/reason for these last 3 charts??

Yeah the 70% stat was taken and applied in a way to make it seem like 70$ of black women weren't married period...when I heard it on the news it was not broken down like this chart.

As for the other 3 tables, as well as the first...i posted it b/c I wanted ppl to not believe the hype about black ppl...we do work (shit black women work more than the total pop average of woman working), we do have more 2 family households than single parent and we do go to school.

if some ppl weren't falling for it...great...this is just some additional confirmation.

that is all

No, the stat said 70% of women are single. Looking at the chart, about 70% of Black women are single. How can that be taken any other way??? Ok, if you wanna say "Well seperated is still married," OK, that knocks the number down to 65%.

I don't think anyone on this board believes any of the things you are trying to contradict with those charts. I think this would've been better served posted on the main board that is "full of Black women" haters.

Let me get the collection plate... I got a few cents...

Problem is not the stereotype...the problem is the reality... we do fall vic to an improportionate number of backward standards that we really need addressed and chastised... until we all wake up and become the ideal I believe the poll chasers will only be blinded by lack of foundational experiences that leave most arm chair intellectuals smug yet further ignorant...

:hmm:

I guess you didn't read the bold part. This post is just fine where its at....maybe you didn't see the influx of people from the main board who have started to post over here since the legs contest....even if there weren't people posting from the main board on this side I would STILL post this here.

If you don't find the post useful that's fine...ignore it. I don't post for LD in reference to what LD thinks soley

Oh yeah, I also placed it on the main board. ;)

I did read it and the reason I said you should post it on the main board is because a vast majority of the ladies on this board feel that the main board is chock full of misogynists and "Anti-Black women" people. Things like this would be better served to those that you feel are ignorant to whatever it is you're trying to prove by posting these stats. In no way was I deterring you from posting on this side, by all means do, I usually post threads I start on both sides because a distinct type of dialogue usually follows. What I was stating is that if this thread had a purpose, and that purpose was education/confirmation, then perhaps it might be best served in the places where they need it most.

Yeah. but a higher percentage of black women have been married at one point than black men have. Of course, black women are 3x more likely to be widowed than black men are.

Black men have spread the myth that black women are somehow more averse to marriage than they are. Not true. Fact is, it takes two to tango, and they can't marry a black man who is unavailable. Also, black women are more likely to LOSE a black male partner in one way or another post-marriage.

Those stats don't take into account "repeat" marriages. And Black women out-live Black men by several years, so I'm not surprised by the number of widows. What Black men spread this stat? The main conveyor of this stat was a BLACK WOMAN. OPRAH-oprah-oprah-oprah!!

. . . we do have more 2 family households than single parent

Not quite J. Married black households comprise 32.1% of households, but single parent black households comprise 36.2% of family households (female headed @ 30.5% and male headed @ 5.7). Since the remaining category is non-families (whatever that means), it appears that where the household involves families, 53% are of the single parent variety and 46.9% are of the married variety.

If attainment is somehow tied to or is a reflection of 2 as opposed to 1 parent households, that 53% becomes a glaring figure.

Of course, there is no way to tell from these stats whether the single parent black families were at one time 2 parent families and, if so, for how long they were 2 parent households.

Your right...I stand corrected. I forgot to include the male headed households (soww)....but yeah your right but I will say, its a lot closer in percentage than I thought (not including non-families household).

thanks
