Those pics were before her mom died...Her mom said her daughter was bi-polar. But now........Dayum......Are you guys sure that is her in the pics?

yep...I used to know some folks that knew her. She got on drugs a long time ago. She has a daughter I think. Thats why its sad whats happened. Hoped she would have gotten some help by now but...

I saw this earlier somewhere else...

Could be her bipolar disorder (remember ATL girl on the train with the old lady???)

But the changes in her appearance tell me it's mostly the crack. That's too bad...

Bi-Polar is an ugly illness........:smh:

Side note she was eating the hell out of those chips......

I don't know if this is her being bi-polar more so than her just being high as hell. I used to work in a center for the "socially unacceptable" and there we're plenty of people in there who we're bi-polar but even in the most extreme of cases, it was rare people went off on the ramble like this.

She shows more drugged symptoms than anything else. Constant ramble, uncontrollable moodiness, her mannerisms, and those chips??

I'm willing to bet top dollar that there are traces amounts of LSD, or Crystal Meth in her system at this given moment.

Wow kudos to you on working in an environment like that-
Quick question-is it that drugs intensify that behavior? What about drinking?

Shes crazy but I know here situation is fucked up to deal with I mean people that used to watch you everyday now just see you around the way. Its like seeing Topanga all cracked out on your block. Some people will leave her be but theres always those cats trying to fuck with your head. Im just saying her environment is only making the shit worse

and yea she was fucking those chips up lol.

Absolutely.

Drugs can intensify any emotion you may or may not know about. That's why a majority of the time people who are getting high for the very first time, are almost always in a constant state of, "the world feels real to me when i'm high," or "I feel like i'm truly myself when i'm high..." It pulls up emotions you may not even know about, and being it the first time you've ever experienced it, you end up growing a liking to it.

Although, this feeling can get stuck with most people which leads to the actual addiction of said drug.

As for the alcohol, it's more of a depressant so it's designed to take you up for the moment, and slam you back down. It may intensify a feeling, but it's only a momentous thing, (4-5 hours max) before you pass out.

This chick though looks like she's got demons deep down, (which celebrity doesn't), and her drugs are getting the best of her at the moment.

Hope she's alright.

Thank you so much for this explanation:)
Also the highlighted part- hits home on a personally level. I have a family member-who drinks and it is exactly as you said.
Absolutely.

DJCandle: people do talk really fast, have scattered thoughts and are unable to focus on one thing when they are in the manic phase of bipolar. My friend first found out her husband was bipolar because she came home from work one night and he had the bills and a ton of papers scattered everywhere and was talking really fast and not making any sense... (they ended up getting an annulment).

Her appearance though is what makes me lean toward drug addiction more than bipolar

Wonders....Who is that dude that got out the car left her for at least 3-5 minutes got back in talking to shit to her....He had no problem w/ putting his hands on her:smh:
That seems real suspect dude w/ a camera-her left in the car-smashing them chips....
Fucking pussy:angry:

Something about her eyes....Look lost....makes me sad.

I'm not saying it's not likely, because I haven't seen every case out there. I'm just saying that I haven't seen it personally. From what i've known though, bipolar disorder leans more towards the depressive state of mind, and given the multitude of things that can lead one to stress these days, it's very easy to mix up the two.

If they've had money problems, marriage problems, or even daily stressful situations, that is more than enough to compound on top of each other to send someone into a manic state.

Your friend's husband sounds like he was just stressed by what was in front of him but I could be wrong.

Did they diagnose him as bipolar?

He was hiding it. Been diagnosed since he was a kid. His mom told my friend at the hospital... She told me that she had gone through his dressers and cabinet before they got married and saw no pills of any sort. He was hiding it. She took him to the hospital that night when he was acting crazy and that;s where it all came out....

And SMH at this "rapper" claiming that Maia Campbell is just a crackhead. I wonder if he shoves and drives off with every crackhead he meets on the street :hmm: What an embarassment to "manhood"

Yeah dude in the car was beating her up, she went off about how she is going to get hit now thats not a good look the whole thing is messed up

i don't know whats worse, that we all of a sudden care because she was semi famous on a bullshit show, or that this goes on daily around the country and nobody even bats an eye lid :smh:

"Update: Maia Campbell Now In Treatment

Posted by Fresh on September 9, 2009

Days after a disturbing video of actress Maia Campbell surfaced on the internet she is now currently seeking treatment, says a friend of her late mother, author Bebe Moore Campbell.

Nancy Carter, executive director of NAMI Urban Los Angeles (NAMI Urban Los Angeles (NULA) is the urban affiliate of NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness), reached out to BlackWeb 2.0 thanking the site for the coverage and the compassion shown towards Maia. Nancy also says that Maia has been diagnosed with bi-polar/manic depression. And because substance abuse is involved she has co-occurring disorder, which has symptoms similar to schizophrenia. Please continue to send your thoughts and prayers out to Maia.

. . . In short, Maia is mentally ill and has a substance abuse problem.

Nancy returned my phone call to her and shared some important and good news: Maia is in treatment. And she said that there is hope for Maia’s recovery but the prayers of “50,000,000″ people can make the difference, because Maia doesn’t like to stay in treatment, and her treatment involves drug withdrawal as well as treatment for her disorders.

Nancy was awestruck by the wonderful comments left on our site and by the general outpouring of support. She asked me to tell you that Maia’s disorders are exasperated and sent out of control by substance abuse. Pre-existing and early onset bi-polar, clinical depression and schizophrenia can be sent out of control by marijuana (the worst culprit), alcohol and of course, synthetic and street drugs.

Maintain your hope for Maia’s recovery. Nancy said, “She can use her beauty, talent, and celebrity for the good of others.”

Visit NAMI Urban LA’s site to view a tribute video to Bebe Moore Campbell, co-founder of the organization.
