Retired baseball star Jose Canseco will spend a week living as a woman in support of Caitlyn Jenner
He is a beefy sportsman who hit 462 home runs in a glittering 17-year career.
But retired baseball star Jose Canseco has revealed he now will spend a week living as a woman in support of Caitlyn Jenner.
The 51-year-old - known as a power hitter - admitted he failed to understand Jenner's transition at first, but has since had a change of heart.
Speaking to the New York Daily News, he said: 'In the very beginning, I didn't understand it, so I was kind of like, against it. Once I watched it more and more, and realized what it really entailed, what he was going through, I started supporting him.
'Once it's completely done, I will be dressing up and living as a woman for a week. I'm talking about full everything.'
He added: 'The only thing I can do is confirm it. I can't say exactly how it's going to be done yet. It will be done for about a week - it will be on my internet show called Spend A Day With Jose.'
The Cuban-born right-handed outfielder hit 462 home runs in a career with the Oakland Athletics, the Texas Rangers and other teams. A six-time all-star, he retired in 2011.
He then gained notoriety after admitting to regular doping during his career.
In a 2005 memoir, he said steroid use was widespread in Major League Baseball.
Last October, Canseco underwent surgery after nearly shooting off his finger by accident. He was cleaning his gun in his Las Vegas home, seemingly unaware there remained a bullet in the weapon.
