me and some of the homies were talking about how deejays don't play slow jams in clubs anymore. they used to back in the day but now gettin close and mackin to a broad is secondary in clubs these days.

nobody could figure out why that happened. what u bgolers think?

:dunno:

I feel you that shit... They really don't do that here in Atlanta. Man I remember those college days. The slow jam came on... I grab a little freak and grind on her... and after the party we off the my room in the frat house getting the groove on.

What does 'back in the day' mean? My guess would be that gangsta rap killed it, but I didn't hit the club scene until 2000s.

The closest I've heard was Lil Jon's Lover's and Friends, oh and they sometimes play slow songs at the very end of the night.

they still do in a few cities,,, but i feel you,,, slow jams in the club died after the 90's,,, i remember scoping out the finest chick and waiting for a slow jam to come on

what's wild now, is that women & men don't even dance together in the 21 & over clubs now,,, the dudes are all dancing in a group, & the girls are dancing in a group

you will only get that from the grown and sexy clubs...nobody wants to hear that shyt because the radio fucked that up for everybody...from old school joints to slow jams they basically only play shyt is modern and from a relevant artist...young singers with young minded content for the music prod. by some well known producer or a rap record with a r&b hook for and alternative approach...you better ordering those slow jams record off tv and picking up a floosy...

i feel you on the clubs but what about the radio?

songs like whip appeal, or pretty brown eyes, will never get play on the radio anymore. who said it was not cool for folks to sing ballads anymore?

the last true "ballad" that was a hit was Jesse Powell's YOU back in 98...somebody correct me if i'm wrong.

out here its just the opposite all they play is slow jams at night on the radio

the only place u can hear rap at night is on power 106 and most of that shit they play is garbage!

i've never been to no club in LA where they threw on some slow jams, not even back in the Garden of Eden days

all the gangster rappers and the hiphop heads....the only way they'll listen to a slow jam is if they try to rap to one...or they get stuck in their moms house while she's havin a birthday party...:hmm:

Horny Kids Raised By Horny,Dumber Parents Who Want To Shake Their Asses. Not Most Of The Time All The Time To Tha Dumbest, Coonery Shit Degratin' To A Bitch. If Motherfuckers Had Any Type Of Dignity And Morals To Give Their Offspring, We Would Have Some Quality R&B. Just My Opinion.

shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeettttttttttttt.......this song right here......when this used to come on at house parties it was a fuckin wrap. Somebody's fuckin panties was comin da fuck off!

it went the same way as love...nowadays everybodys trying to be a tough guy/thug/criminal...who has time for love, lets get to fuckin:(

Slow Jams Died Along Side Of Love. All You Have Is Sex Songs. If One Have Not Experinced Love, One Cannot Write About Love. Therefore They Can't Sing About It. People These Days Date, They Don't Court A Girl. Big Difference. Feel Me?

I was too young for house parties but this was the cut right here...before destiny's child had the monopoly on R&B female groups (but i digress)..

As a DJ, the first thing you have to do is know your audience. If your playing for a college crowd, you can slide a few slow jams in. If your playing for the hood, you want to avoid slow jams at all cost. All they want to hear is Wayne, Rick Ross, Boosie, etc anyway.

If your playing at a crowd for mature folks who want to party without the riff raff, you can play the old school slow jams like Al Green, Isley Brothers, Earth Wind & Fire, etc. Its all about knowing your audience.

And yes there are two DJ's in Baltimore who are known for their slow jams sets in the club.

arrgh..people still say this bullshit?

what happened is..

1. the idea is to get people on the dance floor and KEEP people on the floor sweating..then go to the bar for drinks
2. chicks have attitudes [even the grown & sexy ] and don't want to dance with dudes. so what's the point of playing it?
3. slow jams suck now. can't play neyo or chris brown every set
4. reggae rooms..who needs slow jams when you can grind on ass to a fast shabba song?

Down South Figured out years ago that you do not neeed a SLOW JAM to grind on a hoe. I learned this back in 1991 when I first came to the ATL and went to Sharon Showcase.

not every woman a hoe!!!!!!!!! one could be your wife on day!!!!!!:hmm::hmm::hmm::hmm::hmm::hmm::hmm::hmm:

I agree with the majority. The music industry changed and slow jams became more up temp to suit the generational change. Now music from the 80-90 are called oldies ... we got another ten years before the next change takes over.

I never seen dudes dancing in a group...but I seen hella females dancing in groups and the worse is the chicks that wanna dance in the middle of floor and wont let a dude touch her
