The board hasn't changed; it's just everything else has changed for the reasons below.
1. The people on here have changed. Who you are now isn't the same person you were over 25 years ago. What stimulates you intellectually, emotionally & comically, is gonna be drastically different 25 years later.
2. The landscape, world and era has changed for both on & offine. When BGOL first started, there was no social media in terms of what we now know of social media in relation to today's world, social and cultural climate.
Everything was basically word of mouth so think of the 70's, 80's and 90's. How you found out about any information regarding, events, news or people was mostly just word of mouth. So there was an exclusivity (remember this word) that came with that. It was like having access to insider knowledge or information where as member you were the first to receive or know about news (locally, nationally or internationally) before anyone else. This was even before it became available to the public at large. So there was an "exclusivity" that came with that. As a member you were always the first to know about anything before it even became mainstream news. That has "exclusivity" attached to it.
If you were in your 20's, you also had members who had 20 years up on you in age. So with that as a youngster you did get very useful gems of wisdom and knowledge that you otherwise wouldn't have access to ("exclusivity").
Once the internet & subsequently social media took off and became what it is today as we all know, it pretty much killed the "exclusivity" of BGOL being the only one or the first to having access to social media engagement. That was when BGOL was in its heyday( having "exclusivity"). Without the exclusivity, the luster, attraction and value diminished.
Again the board didn't change. The world you knew way back then as a member on BGOL has changed.
