My view is based on people I have dealt w/ in the past. A lot of the brothas I know who have dated outside of the black race tend to be a bit more (actually a lot more) cultured than those whom have limited themselves to only Black women. (mostly the young generation, older cats are different)

I guess you can kind of relate it to folks who have actually gone to a university and to those who have GEDs and high school diplomas. I believe that it actually reaffirms and strenghtens the true love you have for the lack women.

I also think sistas would definitely outgrow the ghetto mentality if they dated someone non-black, educated, and just different overall. (Not to say that a Black man can't do the same)

I agree with most of what you said, the glaring difference I see is that you assume that Black men and women arent cultured...??? WTF??? First of all I have to ask you what your definition of cultured is. I go to a poetry spot atleast twice a month, art exhibits, concerts, plays, and the like, I can speak however the occasion calls for, attended a 4 year university yada yada yada, I could go on and on. To most WHITE people, I am cultured. But whose culture is it to begin with??? Are you saying that a person cannot experience any of that unless theyre with people of other races??? I disagree with some of your statements. Here, in the Carolinas, you'll see the dingiest black guy with some dingy white woman... I also know men who have dated white women and they had some serious insecurities (one guy was an orphan still dealing with the "lack" of love from parents, the other was trying to "find" himself, as a person, and "found" himself in a white woman).

Whereas I think maybe dating someone opposite yourself may be a good idea, your assumption is that the only ones not dating outside their race are closed-minded, "ghetto" black women/men. How about many of us (I'm speaking for myself, now, actually) just want to be with someone who we think we have more in common with, overall? And, how about that maybe if a woman/man just tried dating someone different, they could find out what things they can and cannot tolerate in a person, not necessarily a black person or a white person? I enjoy experiencing new things maybe more than my contemporaries, but I mean really why is it that a black person is only cultured, when they know about "other" cultures??? I dont see the majority of African, French, Japanese, Arabic, Russian, or whatever country or region that applies striving to be like the US. I don't think you could be a truly cultured person if you are not willing to expose yourself to other cultures. It's not just experiencing another culture. It's also a lot of the other things you've listed. I'm speaking from personal experience.
