Sista Maxine Waters Catching Plenty Heat For Her Confrontational Comment....

Rumors? LOL.

Keep defending a woman who lives in a gated community and has POLICE protection whenever she leaves her house.

Why has she never told people in her district, in a city that is famous for their police abuse record, to ever "get more confrontational"?
Do you not remember when the beating of Rodney King happened? George Bush held a meeting of delegates and didn’t invite sister Maxine who’s district it happened in. She showed up to the meeting and said where’s her chair. They surely brought a seat out for her. She’s been riding since the civil right days

this the same chick
but w/o the glasses
she doesn't look funny noe
Yup. That's her. This bitch below is a new one.

Terrible timing for her to say something like this. She has been around long enough to know better. Even if he is convicted, she has handed them another bullshit argument to be used in an appeal. Everyone is already feeling what she verbalized, so that is going to happen regardless. I'm paraphrasing a quote from the Godfather but it went something like "Never let anyone know what you are thinking." She knows this conviction needs to happen and she is aware of the systemic racism that exist in the justice system. Again, she has been around long enough to know better.

NOT THE SAME AS TRUMP.........SHE SAID "IF VERDICT IS WRONG, WE HAVE TO PROTEST MORE CONFRONT"

TRUMP SAID "LETS GO OVERTHROW ELECTION RESULTS...LETS GO TO THE CAPITOL (A SPECIFIC PLACE).... AT A PARTICULAR TIME.

They have been sequestered

This noise is just republicans being repigs and the killer cop's defence reaching.

They just got sequestered once deliberations started. Before that the judge would just tell them to not watch the news. The judge denied the defense's request to sequester them earlier.

I don't think what she said was that bad, plus I didn't know she had said anything until I heard them bring it up, so how would the jury have heard it?

Burn it ALL down, if this murderer gets off. Shit Waters went light on her comments. That judge just wants the cop to get off.

It'd like if someone says sum'n, they're wrong. If they don't, they're wrong. These scary ass niggas will find any reason to complain. Da verdict was already decided had she said sum'n or not.

It's long been time for some of y'all old, elderly niggas to get out da way and play da background. You're far too scary and docile.
I disagree with you. They aren’t docile when it comes to homosexuals. They show their grit and teeth in those topics. When it’s about women they let you know how they feel. When it comes to putting up or shutting up in defense of black people, that’s when it gets quiet.

That wasn't that bad at all!!!

I thought she was going to say " We got to burn this bitch to the ground" or some shit.

Gimma break....

Pretty much. The Judge denied the Motion for a Mistrial, but he was right. Shit the fuck up. We all the way tobthe end of a clean case and the clout chasers are coming in creating arguments for the appeal. A government official should not and cannot insert themselves into a case and usurp the jury. She just handed the defense an appeable issue.

Fair points.

neither are some of those in this thread posting but didn't feel the need to see what she really said and the context it was said in.

unless they are er um we saying the same thing.

You cannot have a government official speaking on an active criminal case. That’s problematic. That could be an appeable issue. She is in Cali. Why the fuck is she in Minnesota? Sit down somewhere.

House tables resolution to censure Maxine Waters
BY KATHRYN WATSON
APRIL 20, 2021 / 4:37 PM / CBS NEWS

Democrats narrowly defeated a resolution brought by House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy Tuesday to censure Democratic Congresswoman Maxine Waters, after she encouraged protesters in Minnesota to "stay on the street" and "get more confrontational" if they don't see a guilty verdict returned in the Derek Chauvin trial regarding the death of George Floyd.

The House voted to table the resolution 216 to 210 along party lines. This is victory for House Democratic leadership, as they could afford just two Democratic defections on this vote. There were zero defections on either side, with all Democrats present voting to table and all Republicans voting to move forward. Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Majority Leader Steny Hoyer were spotted by the doors of the chamber talking to members as they entered, indicating how important Democratic leadership considered the vote.

"Chairwoman Waters' actions are beneath the dignity of this institution. They raised the potential for violence, directed lawlessness, and may have interfered with a co-equal branch of government," McCarthy said in a tweet after he introduced the resolution on the House floor. "I just introduced this censure resolution to hold her accountable."

The resolution makes reference to remarks made by Judge Peter Cahill Monday after Chauvin's attorney, Eric Nelson asked for a mistrial over Waters' remarks. Judge Peter Cahill denied the request but told Nelson, "I will give you that Congresswoman Waters may have given you something on appeal that may result in this whole trial being overturned," and he said, "I wish elected officials would stop talking about this case especially in a manner that is disrespectful to the rule of law."

Waters' comments came during a protest over the weekend, ahead of a verdict in the trial of Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer charged with second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. The California congresswoman told reporters Chauvin should be found guilty.

"I hope we get a verdict that says guilty, guilty, guilty," she said.

Her comments also came in the wake of the death of Daunte Wright, a Black man killed by a police officer in Minnesota.

When reporters asked Waters what should happen if justice isn't served in the courts in the Chauvin trial, Waters responded: "We gotta stay on the street. And we've got to get more active. We've got to get more confrontational. They've got to know that we mean business."

In remarks to The Grio on Monday, she did not back down from her remarks and said she is "nonviolent." She accused Republicans of twisting her words and using them as fundraising opportunity.

"Republicans will jump on any word, any line and try to make it fit their message and their cause for denouncing us and denying us, basically calling us violent … any time they see an opportunity to seize on a word, so they do it and they send a message to all of the white supremacists, the KKK, the Oath Keepers, the [Proud] Boys and all of that, how this is a time for [Republicans] to raise money on [Democrats] backs," Waters told The Grio.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi also defended Waters' comments, stating that Waters had "talked about confrontation in the manner of the Civil Rights movement," and she said, "No, I don't think she should apologize."

Republicans have accused Waters of inflaming tensions. Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene said she would introduce a resolution to kick Waters out of the House, a highly unlikely scenario.

The jury in Chauvin's trial reached a verdict Tuesday afternoon.

Waters has served in Congress since 1991 and is the chairwoman of the House Financial Services Committee.

Nikole Killion and Rebecca Kaplan contributed to this report.

it was a dumb comment.

the judge literally threw an alleyoop to the defense team basically saying if they have an adverse outcome they have grounds for appeal and will likely win the appeal.

Comments weren’t far from anyone else seeking justice. It wasn’t dumb the judge was just looking for a any reason to aid the defense in a mistrial.

It’s crazy because this is the type of uphill battle we face when it comes to seeking justice. They want us to remain completely still and silent and wait for them to decide if they will give us justice or not.
