A Silent Install is an application that installs without user input. For software requiring a Keygen, Crack, Patch, etc... It is applied during the install of the Application only requiring the user to click the App only one time in most instances.

f you want to keep your PC running as smoothly as the very first day you switched it on, you've got two options: either you download a dozen different system optimization tools or you just use TuneUp Utilities 2010, a an excellent application that has turned into an essential maintenance toolkit for your PC.
When launching TuneUp Utilities – and immediately after the 'traditional' trial version reminder – you access the program's new interface, designed in a very clean, almost minimalist style. The main window in TuneUp Utilities contains four main areas: Maintain system, Increase performance, Fix problems and Customize Windows. Each of them displays an icon to indicate the system's status in that particular area: green arrow for optimized, yellow sign to require user intervention. Like I said, it's all very clean and minimalist; all the extra options in TuneUp Utilities are hidden in drop-down menus you can open by clicking the "All functions" link at the bottom of each section.
Among these options, TuneUp Utilities includes tools to optimize system startup, defragment the hard drive, clean Windows Registry from broken keys, restore accidentally delete files, check your hard drive for errors, modify Windows hidden settings and customize Windows appearance with the so called TuneUp Styler, to name a few. Other interesting utilities in TuneUp Utilities 2010 are a file shredded, a complete system report generator and the excellent '1-Click Maintenance' tool that lets you analyze and fix a wide range of issues in one click.
TuneUp Utilities 2010 also includes new features that make the program even more useful. Some of these innovations include the Turbo Mode, which disables all unwanted background programs and services to ensure individual programs run smoothly; the Live Optimization utility, which improves computer's performance right on the spot, as soon as needed; and the Optimization Report, which lets you review changes applied to the system over the past week, month or since installation.
Summing up, the new TuneUp Utilites 2010 remains an excellent optimization suite, with a wide selection of powerful tools, yet easy enough for everyone to use. The only thing that surprised me about TuneUp Utilities was the lack of special Windows 7 features. The program is embedded with Windows Explorer and also includes a special gadget, but somehow I expected more integration with Windows 7. TuneUp Utilities Jump lists would have been nice!

DVDFab is a tough cookie – even disks that refuse to be copied with other programs can usually be cracked. The customize option allows you to get rid of files that stand in your way and just rip the actual movie. It can also help in recovering scratched or dirty disks that don’t play properly in your DVD player anymore. Ripping speed is remarkably fast with DVDFab - depending on the size of disk, you can record a new one in less than 10 minutes, although the average time is around 30 minutes.
One of the minor drawbacks to DVDFab is that the heavy processing power needed to rip a disk often results in crashes. This will be less of a problem on more powerful machines but on machines with old processors, using DVDFab may become impractical. Many user forums are however full of praise for DVDFab claiming that it can rip more disks and, what's more, faster than comparable products such as DVD Shrink or ShrinkTo5.

7Stack is a free utility that can display the contents of any folder in a Mac-like vertical-style or grid-style stack, or otherwise in a cascading-menu style similar to the XP start menu. 7Stack shortcuts can be placed on the desktop, added to the Quick Launch tray (for XP, Vista), or pinned to the Windows 7 taskbar in the manner of a jumplist. Folder stacks can be used to browse folders and subfolders in-place without using Windows Explorer.
Why this app is cool: it provides a really neat way to browse folders in-place from a shortcut or on the Windows 7 taskbar. I am finding this a great substitute to keeping files/icons on the desktop, by stashing these in folders while keeping them instantly accessible via stacks.
Here are more notes on this app:
* Stack Types: vertical stacks, grid stacks, and menu style. In Windows 7 you can have up to 10 stacks on the taskbar.
* Stack behavior: can be customized such that stacks”close” whenever you click anywhere outside of them, or otherwise only close when you either click on an element in the stack or on the stack icon itself.
* Stacks are Browsable: you can move in and out of folders in place. Menu stacks cascade like the start menu in XP.
* Opening a folder in explorer: the last entry in your stack will always be the option to open the folder you are browsing in explorer, which is a great idea.
* Windows’ context menu: right clicking on file or folder within a stack displays the default Windows context menu items, making it possible to perform normal file operations on these.
* Icons: for the stack itself is customizable; it will prompt you when you set a stack up or simply change the shortcut icon for your stack after it is created.
* Customizability: you can change the height and font sizes of stack items, you can choose between white font on black background or the opposite, and you can choose whether to have text and icons or just icons in your stacks. You can also choose to display a thumbnail preview for image files although this will not show if you make your icon size too small.
Wish list (or how this app can be even better)
* Using vertical stacks, I encountered a bug whereby if you browse down a couple of levels (subfolders) and then attempt to right click on a file or folder you get an error message and the windows context menu doesn’t show (on Windows 7 64 bit).
* Editing a stack: when right clicking on a stack icon in Windows 7 in order to edit the stack, only the last created stack seemed editable.
* I wish that the “back” and “open in explorer” entries in the stack would use distinctive icons, such as arrows or something like that. It would make a very positive difference in the user experience I think.
* Skins: I wish there were more of them.
The verdict: a potentially very useful program (especially on the Windows 7 taskbar, imho). This app is somewhat similar to previously mentioned Standalone Stack, and when stacks are browsed as cascading menus 7Stacks is very reminiscent of MenuApp. However, 7Stack is different from both of these in that the stacks are browsable and more interactive. I like the way some of the behavior is handled, esp. with respect to stacks being open until their icon is re-clicked, and also the fact that items in the stack are can be right-clicked on to perform normal file or folder operations on.

If you're tired of bloated burning suites, maybe BurnAware is what you're looking for. This simple burning application includes all the tools you need to record your own CD, DVD and even Blu-Ray discs.
The program starts up with a wizard-style interface that lets you select the appropriate recording task. You can choose between data and music discs, as well as DVD videos and ISO files. In all cases you may choose files and folders from the program itself or simply drag and drop files onto its interface. Also, notice the drop-down menu on the bottom bar, from which you can select the target size: CD, DVD, double-layered DVD and Blu-Ray.

On a purely aesthetic level, O&O Defrag Professional's interface is easy to navigate and displays its scans in a clear, color-coded diagram. Where it really shines, however, is in the extra options it provides, the most interesting being a highly customizable task scheduler, include/exclude file options and power and memory management options so defragmenting never puts too much of a strain on your system. The only problem with O&O Defrag Professional is that some of these advanced functions - like cluster inspections and zone filing - are not well explained and as a result may seem inaccessible to less experienced users.

Copying DVDs (for your own use, of course) is becoming increasingly difficult as manufacturers improve the security encoding on DVDs. AnyDVD however claims to be able to crack any DVD encryption code and judging by the number of downloads, Softonic users are certainly endorsing it too.
The beauty of AnyDVD is that it simply works in the background to automatically remove the copy protection of a DVD movie as soon as it's inserted into the drive. In this way, it can decrypt data without actually saving it to your hard-disk. You can watch the DVD at the same time or just insert a disk and let AnyDVD do its stuff. When you insert a disk, you are automatically prompted whether you want to decrypt it. When it has finished inspecting the disk, the program prompts you to backup the DVD using your preferred backup tool such as CloneDVD or Power DVD Copy.
The programme goes much further than this though. A handy bonus is that you can also remove the RPC region code, thereby making the movie region free and viewable on any DVD player. This is especially useful for those who buy many of their disks abroad or travel a lot. If you want to create a stripped-down version of a DVD, it can also remove unwanted movie features, including subtitles and extras for example. The programme also moves beyond decryption and allows you to control the speed of your DVD drive. This is useful if you’re having trouble playing a DVD properly or if the noise of your drive is causing annoyance. Finally, there’s also an option to display the frequency of your monitor for both NTSC and PAL displays although you probably won’t use this unless you’re having serious display issues.
The only drawback of AnyDVD is the number of daily updates that are released. Whilst this is obviously a good thing in terms of keeping it up-to-date with the latest encryption methods, the update alerts can be rather annoying and are prone to slowing your computer down.
However, this is a small price to pay for a programme that seems able to crack all but the toughest disks and for anyone who likes to create backups of their favourite DVDs, it’s an essential addition to your software collection.

RealPlayer 1.1.5 SP Gold Silent Install
RealPlayer SP is one of those media applications that seems to have been around since the very beginnings of the Net.
Nowadays, its far more sophisticated than it was in its humble beginnings and features social and portability options that make it a widely-used application for those who want to share films and take the player on the move with them.
Installation of RealPlayer SP is a little annoying. When you install it you are offered a range of options, such as to add a desktop shortcut to RealPlayer's game site, download Google Chrome, plus you have to close and restart your browser. The installation process also takes a couple of minutes after this to fully install. Finally, when it starts, you're offered a chance to upgrade to paid versions of RealPlayer SP before you have to register yourself with Real Networks.
When you're up and running, RealPlayer SP features a wide interface where you will notice some ads and videos recommended by Real Networks. While this looks a bit cluttered and messy, the real benefits of RealPlayer SP come in using it as a portable player and converter. RealPlayer SP is ideal for playing and sharing video with your friends and followers on Facebook and Twitter and it works easily with BlackBerry, iPod, iPhone and other game systems. The new video converter allows you to copy online video to your iPod, Xbox, PS3 and other devices. Unfortunately, you can't rip DVDs with RealPlayer SP, although this is available as a feature if you upgrade to RealPlayer Plus.
One of the most annoying aspects of RealPlayer SP however is that it takes ages to start whether streaming a clip or just opening a standalone video file. This may be due to the many extensions and plugins that come preinstalled with it. There are also too many clicks and mouse movements required just to switch to a full-screen playback mode when viewing a clip on a web page. Also, it appears that you are able to watch a selection of channels for free in the 'SuperPass' menu, such as BBC World and Al Jazeera. However, when one of the channels finally opens, you are informed that you only get five-minute free-views unless you purchase a SuperPass.
That said, RealPlayer SP isn't bad at all. It's comparable to Windows Media Player 12 as they both have some impressive ways of organizing your music. For me, the best feature is the CD burner which is something I've used from the early days of RealPlayer SP. Finally, the sheer quality of some of the media only available in Real formats makes RealPlayer SP an essential item in the toolkit of any fan of Internet video and audio.

f you want to keep your PC running as smoothly as the very first day you switched it on, you've got two options: either you download a dozen different system optimization tools or you just use TuneUp Utilities 2010, a an excellent application that has turned into an essential maintenance toolkit for your PC.
When launching TuneUp Utilities – and immediately after the 'traditional' trial version reminder – you access the program's new interface, designed in a very clean, almost minimalist style. The main window in TuneUp Utilities contains four main areas: Maintain system, Increase performance, Fix problems and Customize Windows. Each of them displays an icon to indicate the system's status in that particular area: green arrow for optimized, yellow sign to require user intervention. Like I said, it's all very clean and minimalist; all the extra options in TuneUp Utilities are hidden in drop-down menus you can open by clicking the "All functions" link at the bottom of each section.
Among these options, TuneUp Utilities includes tools to optimize system startup, defragment the hard drive, clean Windows Registry from broken keys, restore accidentally delete files, check your hard drive for errors, modify Windows hidden settings and customize Windows appearance with the so called TuneUp Styler, to name a few. Other interesting utilities in TuneUp Utilities 2010 are a file shredded, a complete system report generator and the excellent '1-Click Maintenance' tool that lets you analyze and fix a wide range of issues in one click.

Summing up, the new TuneUp Utilites 2010 remains an excellent optimization suite, with a wide selection of powerful tools, yet easy enough for everyone to use. The only thing that surprised me about TuneUp Utilities was the lack of special Windows 7 features. The program is embedded with Windows Explorer and also includes a special gadget, but somehow I expected more integration with Windows 7. TuneUp Utilities Jump lists would have been nice!

7Stack is a free utility that can display the contents of any folder in a Mac-like vertical-style or grid-style stack, or otherwise in a cascading-menu style similar to the XP start menu. 7Stack shortcuts can be placed on the desktop, added to the Quick Launch tray (for XP, Vista), or pinned to the Windows 7 taskbar in the manner of a jumplist. Folder stacks can be used to browse folders and subfolders in-place without using Windows Explorer.
Why this app is cool: it provides a really neat way to browse folders in-place from a shortcut or on the Windows 7 taskbar. I am finding this a great substitute to keeping files/icons on the desktop, by stashing these in folders while keeping them instantly accessible via stacks.
Here are more notes on this app:
* Stack Types: vertical stacks, grid stacks, and menu style. In Windows 7 you can have up to 10 stacks on the taskbar.
* Stack behavior: can be customized such that stacks”close” whenever you click anywhere outside of them, or otherwise only close when you either click on an element in the stack or on the stack icon itself.
* Stacks are Browsable: you can move in and out of folders in place. Menu stacks cascade like the start menu in XP.
* Opening a folder in explorer: the last entry in your stack will always be the option to open the folder you are browsing in explorer, which is a great idea.
* Windows’ context menu: right clicking on file or folder within a stack displays the default Windows context menu items, making it possible to perform normal file operations on these.
* Icons: for the stack itself is customizable; it will prompt you when you set a stack up or simply change the shortcut icon for your stack after it is created.
* Customizability: you can change the height and font sizes of stack items, you can choose between white font on black background or the opposite, and you can choose whether to have text and icons or just icons in your stacks. You can also choose to display a thumbnail preview for image files although this will not show if you make your icon size too small.
Wish list (or how this app can be even better)
* Using vertical stacks, I encountered a bug whereby if you browse down a couple of levels (subfolders) and then attempt to right click on a file or folder you get an error message and the windows context menu doesn’t show (on Windows 7 64 bit).
* Editing a stack: when right clicking on a stack icon in Windows 7 in order to edit the stack, only the last created stack seemed editable.
* I wish that the “back” and “open in explorer” entries in the stack would use distinctive icons, such as arrows or something like that. It would make a very positive difference in the user experience I think.
* Skins: I wish there were more of them.
The verdict: a potentially very useful program (especially on the Windows 7 taskbar, imho). This app is somewhat similar to previously mentioned Standalone Stack, and when stacks are browsed as cascading menus 7Stacks is very reminiscent of MenuApp. However, 7Stack is different from both of these in that the stacks are browsable and more interactive. I like the way some of the behavior is handled, esp. with respect to stacks being open until their icon is re-clicked, and also the fact that items in the stack are can be right-clicked on to perform normal file or folder operations on.

If you're tired of bloated burning suites, maybe BurnAware is what you're looking for. This simple burning application includes all the tools you need to record your own CD, DVD and even Blu-Ray discs.

Where it really shines, however, is in the extra options it provides, the most interesting being a highly customizable task scheduler, include/exclude file options and power and memory management options so defragmenting never puts too much of a strain on your system. The only problem with O&O Defrag Professional is that some of these advanced functions - like cluster inspections and zone filing - are not well explained and as a result may seem inaccessible to less experienced users.

Copying DVDs (for your own use, of course) is becoming increasingly difficult as manufacturers improve the security encoding on DVDs. AnyDVD however claims to be able to crack any DVD encryption code and judging by the number of downloads, Softonic users are certainly endorsing it too.
The beauty of AnyDVD is that it simply works in the background to automatically remove the copy protection of a DVD movie as soon as it's inserted into the drive. In this way, it can decrypt data without actually saving it to your hard-disk. You can watch the DVD at the same time or just insert a disk and let AnyDVD do its stuff. When you insert a disk, you are automatically prompted whether you want to decrypt it. When it has finished inspecting the disk, the program prompts you to backup the DVD using your preferred backup tool such as CloneDVD or Power DVD Copy.
The programme goes much further than this though. A handy bonus is that you can also remove the RPC region code, thereby making the movie region free and viewable on any DVD player. This is especially useful for those who buy many of their disks abroad or travel a lot. If you want to create a stripped-down version of a DVD, it can also remove unwanted movie features, including subtitles and extras for example. The programme also moves beyond decryption and allows you to control the speed of your DVD drive. This is useful if you’re having trouble playing a DVD properly or if the noise of your drive is causing annoyance. Finally, there’s also an option to display the frequency of your monitor for both NTSC and PAL displays although you probably won’t use this unless you’re having serious display issues.
The only drawback of AnyDVD is the number of daily updates that are released. Whilst this is obviously a good thing in terms of keeping it up-to-date with the latest encryption methods, the update alerts can be rather annoying and are prone to slowing your computer down.
However, this is a small price to pay for a programme that seems able to crack all but the toughest disks and for anyone who likes to create backups of their favourite DVDs, it’s an essential addition to your software collection.

RealPlayer SP is one of those media applications that seems to have been around since the very beginnings of the Net.
Nowadays, its far more sophisticated than it was in its humble beginnings and features social and portability options that make it a widely-used application for those who want to share films and take the player on the move with them.
Installation of RealPlayer SP is a little annoying. When you install it you are offered a range of options, such as to add a desktop shortcut to RealPlayer's game site, download Google Chrome, plus you have to close and restart your browser. The installation process also takes a couple of minutes after this to fully install. Finally, when it starts, you're offered a chance to upgrade to paid versions of RealPlayer SP before you have to register yourself with Real Networks.
When you're up and running, RealPlayer SP features a wide interface where you will notice some ads and videos recommended by Real Networks. While this looks a bit cluttered and messy, the real benefits of RealPlayer SP come in using it as a portable player and converter. RealPlayer SP is ideal for playing and sharing video with your friends and followers on Facebook and Twitter and it works easily with BlackBerry, iPod, iPhone and other game systems. The new video converter allows you to copy online video to your iPod, Xbox, PS3 and other devices. Unfortunately, you can't rip DVDs with RealPlayer SP, although this is available as a feature if you upgrade to RealPlayer Plus.
One of the most annoying aspects of RealPlayer SP however is that it takes ages to start whether streaming a clip or just opening a standalone video file. This may be due to the many extensions and plugins that come preinstalled with it. There are also too many clicks and mouse movements required just to switch to a full-screen playback mode when viewing a clip on a web page. Also, it appears that you are able to watch a selection of channels for free in the 'SuperPass' menu, such as BBC World and Al Jazeera. However, when one of the channels finally opens, you are informed that you only get five-minute free-views unless you purchase a SuperPass.
That said, RealPlayer SP isn't bad at all. It's comparable to Windows Media Player 12 as they both have some impressive ways of organizing your music. For me, the best feature is the CD burner which is something I've used from the early days of RealPlayer SP. Finally, the sheer quality of some of the media only available in Real formats makes RealPlayer SP an essential item in the toolkit of any fan of Internet video and audio.
