Celtics center Shaquille O'Neal did not travel with the team to Miami Saturday and has been ruled out for both of Boston's final two road games of the season.

Celtics coach Doc Rivers had said Friday that it was unlikely O'Neal would travel and, sure enough, he was the only player left behind. Boston will carry 14 healthy bodies for Sunday's showdown in Miami and Monday's visit to Washington.

With no scheduled practice days before the regular-season finale, it would appear that O'Neal might not be back on the floor until the postseason. The Celtics play Game No. 82 Wednesday night when the New York Knicks visit TD Garden, then likely will enjoy three days off before the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs open.

O'Neal returned to the court April 3 for the first time since Feb. 1, but logged a mere six minutes before suffering a right calf sprain.

Rivers had said all week there was a slight chance O'Neal could play in Miami, but also said the team would exercise extreme caution with the 39-year-old.

O'Neal has appeared in 37 games this season, averaging 9.2 points and 4.8 rebounds in 20.3 minutes per game. Boston is 27-9 with O'Neal in the starting lineup this season.

Jermaine O'Neal, who got a maintenance day by sitting out Friday against the Wizards, traveled with the team and likely will rejoin the starting lineup in Miami.

Next we will hear he is out for the first round of the play-offs:smh:

Ya'll really put ya'll's playoff hopes in the hands of The O'Neals? Shaq is old and Jermaine's skeleton is softer than a loaf of bread

That's what it looks like.He comes here and has been a statue in Harvard sq...hosting parties at the children's museum and all kinds of other things.

Everything except playing ball:smh:

$1.3M paycheck. Chump change. They've already received way more than their money's worth out of him.

Yeah it's chump change, but what exactly have the Celtics gotten from him???
He misses 30 games, comes back and pulls something...I'm shocked.
And this is what the Celts are depending on:smh:

Maybe some miracle will happen and he will be a factor in the play-offs...but it defies any sort of logic.

That ninja Beeii fittin' to kill himself. He reps Boston and New York. I still have no fucking clue how this happens. You can't have two cities despise each other as much as NYC and Boston. Dude is a weirdo.

Funny thing, no matter who wins, he wins and loses at the same time.

WALTHAM, Mass. -- The Boston Celtics attempted to get Shaquille O'Neal back on the practice court Saturday morning, but his ailing right Achilles tendon and strained right calf would not allow him to go through the activity.
Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge announced soon after that O'Neal would not be ready for Sunday's Game 1 of an Eastern Conference quarterfinals series against the New York Knicks.
"[Shaq's] been making progress and we tried to get him out there to practice today, to simulate a game as much as we could and he's not ready," Ainge said. "We don't know when he'll be ready, and we'll just keep evaluating him day to day. So he won't play in tomorrow's game."

:smh:

Ainge should be fired for trading Perk and thinking he can depend on the O'Neil boys.

But then again, I hate the Celtics, so I'm .

Fuck Beeii at? Talkin' that Shaq shit!

And who the fuck even says Jeff Green resigns with the Celtics???...

The Celts/Lakers were the co-favorites,with most people favoring the Celts...and you give that away, for what???

The play-offs have not even started for the Celts...and I'm mad as a motherfucker:angry::angry::angry::angry:

Shaquille O’Neal an indefinite no-go

WALTHAM — Dr. Brian McKeon can think of almost any other injury that wouldn’t be so painfully inconclusive.

In ruling Shaquille O’Neal out of tonight’s playoff opener against the Knicks, the Celtics [team stats] team physician showed the team-wide frustration that has come from trying to evaluate the center’s sore right Achilles tendon and right calf.

“I told Danny (Ainge) and the coaches that in the last 20 years this is one area of medicine where we have made no progress, because it just takes time,” McKeon said yesterday after O’Neal’s failed attempt to run at the team’s practice facility. “It’s hard to get enough healing potential in that area.

“It’s the whole Achilles/calf construct,” he said. “If he ruptured his Achilles tendon completely, it would be a surgical situation, but no. It’s all three muscles in the area, and it’s all sore.”

If O’Neal needed surgery, then the Celtics could move on. But much as they spent two rounds of the 2009 playoffs waiting in vain for Kevin Garnett to return from a damaged knee, their only option with O’Neal is patience.

Though O’Neal has offered to take cortisone shots as a way of playing through the pain, McKeon ruled out painkillers as an option yesterday.

“Cortisone doesn’t help in this area,” he said. “That’s beyond it. Time is the best. The trainers are doing aggressive massage and tissue mobilization and strengthening, swelling-reduction techniques. There’s a lot of hands-on techniques you can do.”

Adding to the Celtics’ quandary is the fact that tests also don’t help. The only gauge is how O’Neal feels at a given moment, be it the day of a game or five minutes into the first quarter.

“It’s so dependent on the particular athlete,” McKeon said of when O’Neal, after so much waiting and treatment, might be ready to play. “Because it’s a blood supply issue it’s so hard to tell. MRIs are worthless. It’s really how the patient or athlete is feeling.”

But even O’Neal can be deluded. He felt good enough to play April 3 against Detroit — his only appearance since a 16-minute appearance against Sacramento on Feb. 1 — but limped off the floor after only five minutes.

To hear McKeon and general manager Danny Ainge tell it yesterday, O’Neal could return in anywhere from three days to the second round of the playoffs — or longer.

“This guy has been working his tail off — he’s worked so, so hard,” McKeon said. “Today we put him in a trial pregame workout and it failed. It didn’t work. So we’re going to get back to work tomorrow and keep doing what we’re doing. Hopefully it will work soon.

“He’s actually made a progression every day,” he said. “But the blood supply in his leg is so poor that it just takes time.”

Ainge, though, is holding out hope for a Shaq return — however long or however obscured the time frame may be.

“He’s been making progress,” Ainge said. “We tried to get him out there to simulate a game situation as much as we could and he’s not ready. We don’t know when he will play, but he won’t play in (tonight’s) game.”

But it’s not for a lack of desire.

I have not given up...and will still root for my club.

But....nothing that happens will surprise me.It would not shock me if they lost to the Nicks,or if they got it together and went to the finals.
But yeah...never thought I would say this, the Heat are in better shape at center than the Celts.I never liked J O'Neal...Krstic seems scared and lost at times:smh:why did Anige just dump Erden for no reason???

I'm just mad as a motherfucker that the club I was rooting for at the start of the season:angry:was not allowed the chance to do what I thought they could do.

You noticed JO had 25lbs of ice on his knees while on the bench. Don't expect a repeat.
