Should Nancy Pelosi be Majority Leader for Democrats in the House?

  • Yes

  • No

Results are only viewable after voting.
i’d be all for Hakeem Jeffries taking over. And I don’t think this party should chase rural white voters ever again.

ever.

they need to get rid of Perez, get a new head of the DNC that understands analytics and social media.

prep for 2022 needs to start today.
I’m on the 2028 plan

We flipping the whole country blue

The Dems have been losing elections like and right and some prominent Centrist Democrats like Elliott Engel have gotten ousted by Progressive newcomers. And Nancy in her infinite wisdom decided to violate her own edict to publically support a Democrat, Joe Kennedy, challenging an incumbent Democrat, Ed Markey, who's a progressive in a Senate race and Markey beat Kennedy by double digits. They need to get better messaging(Defund the Police could have been labeled as Support the Police and meant the same thing) and embrace the progressives more because they need them. They don't have to be Socialists but being Republican lite isn't working enough.

So, Biden expanded the base. But Trump supercharged rural white voters and expanded his base even more.

This wasn't about centrist Dems not being popular. Biden is getting more votes than any candidate ever.

This was about Trump deciding to run against, Bernie, AOC and the socialist left and rabble rousing enough country white people to swarm the polls.

So, Biden expanded the base.

Bullshit. Most Biden supporters here would admit Trump did more to expand the base than Biden did. I voted for that conservative fossil but you would have people believe I did so because I was so excited for him. Malarky. There were more anti-Trump voters than pro-Biden voters.

and Bernard and AOC expanded the Republican base more than ever in history. No one has ever created more Republicans than those two.

Another thing that will come up in a week or so, the Dems took a beating in the House. They'll likely still lose 5-6 more seats than what they've already lost. She was supposed to expand the House and make it unwinnable for the GOP over the short term, is actually back in play for 2022.

No one that was a DEM converted to being a Republican because of AOC. That's bullshit and you'll find no evidence to support any meaningful shift because of those two. The 'socialist" boogeyman is part of every presidential race. Republicans came out for Trump... had nothing to do with AOC...and AOC is PERSONALLY responsible for bringing millions of young voters to the voting rolls... and that isn't hyperbole. We have data to back that up. And I don't agree with all the progressive ideas but she's GREAT for the party.. absolutely great. I don't think Biden wins without her. She was the main one who pulled the progressive side on board to support Biden.

Agreed.

I'd love Hakeem taking over...and yes. Perez is always been garbage.

Every time there's progress she warns against it
Stacey Abrams is about to turn Georgia blue

At what point should you transition into a consultant area isn't she 80?

Why do people make decisions that impact my future who don't really have a long one ahead?

"I know you are but what am I?" :smh:

Before you do your "and" bullshit, can you acknowledge your previous bullshit was baseless?

I'm always real honest- I don't care about meaningless symbolic bills that they knew would not pass.

Y'all keep using McConnell as an excuse but Harry Reid was the Senate Majority Leader from 2007 to 2015- basically the entire Obama presidency- and Pelosi was House Speaker for four of those years. What do we have to show for it?
They had two yrs of full control and 6 yrs where Senate was controlled by repubs. In those first 2 yrs Obamacare was passed.

Messaging. Dems are terrible at it. You'll have some fringe dem adopt something created at a protest and then they become spokesman for the entire party. That shit wasnt approved from the top. Dem leadership is then put on the spot. Repubs message from the top down. Everyone inline.

THIS

Obama tricked the DEMS to thinking Florida is still a swing state. Obama is just that dude. Ohio and FL are red states... they aren't swing staes anymore. I even told @gene cisco that and he is from there. Ohio aint shit but Northern Kentucky now.
Obama is an absolute MASTER politician. I'm talking Yoda/Sidious working together. He didn't talk down to these cacs. Didn't tell them they were privileged not once. He let his skin color basically be the only progressive thing about him when he talked.

Hilary wasn't liked. Biden is an uninspiring corpse.

I'll wait until the democrats finally get a Bill/Obama-level type politician before I say this state is red. Ohio only votes for rockstar democrats. All it takes is a charismatic centrist to get this state supporting blue. Democrats are in desperate need of grooming a charismatic candidate. Lord help them if a more polished Trump comes along.

It's becoming clearer and clearer every day Obama was the GOAT. He got more rural whites than Hillary and Biden
that shouldn't even be possible. And Biden was always known as the Scranton guy.

Her ass is 80 years old she needs to go home and play with the grandkids. Her Maxine Waters, Jim Clyburn, Diane Fienstein and any other fossil need to go home. If you're 80 you have one foot in the grave voting on things that will have absolutely no effect on you.

WASHINGTON, DC – House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today to announce his bid for Majority Leader:

"I am confident that House Democrats in the 117th Congress will get things done on behalf of the American people, and I am honored by the support of my colleagues to serve once more as Majority Leader as we continue the work of legislating For the People. Our Caucus must stand together and remain united as we work to address the COVID-19 pandemic, build our economy back better, and ensure that every person in this country has the tools to Make It In America. I look forward to continuing working closely with all our Members and committees to ensure that we deliver on our promises and renew Americans' faith in their democracy and institutions of government."

Hoyer sent the following letter to all Democratic Members today:

Dear Democratic Colleague:

Congratulations on your victory, and on your efforts to elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris as the next President and Vice President of the United States. Once again, the American people have entrusted Democrats with the House Majority. We must be a Majority that governs for everybody, just as Joe Biden will be a president for all Americans. I have great faith that we will show voters that we can deliver results.

Over the past two years, we have been unified and successful in passing a substantive agenda for the people. I am proud of our Members and of the role I played in accomplishing that objective. Unfortunately for the American people, the Senate refused to even consider much of the work we did. Now, the 2020 election has given us great opportunities and continuing great challenges. Having a Democratic administration will clearly make an enormous difference, but our smaller Majority and a closely divided Senate will necessitate creating and maintaining a broad consensus among us. I believe I have been a leader in that effort, which has enabled us to secure victories where possible while keeping our Caucus united behind policies that reflect our shared Democratic values.

That’s why I am running to serve as Majority Leader in the 117th Congress. I believe that my experience is well suited to helping our Caucus navigate the challenges these next two years present. I have spoken with almost everyone in our Caucus, and I am heartened by the support I’ve received. I will continue listening closely to our Members and soliciting your input over the next two years to ensure that we keep advancing our positive, progressive, and broadly popular legislative agenda For the People.

Exit polls showed that economic concerns were uppermost in the minds of our people. I have promoted a Make It In America agenda for the past ten years because I believe it is the unifying concept of our party. Promoting and supporting policies that enhance the ability of Americans to “make it” is what Biden’s “Build Back Better” agenda speaks to. It is an agenda that unifies all of us and resonates in every district in America.

As Majority Leader, I was proud to work with the Speaker, the Whip, and our committee chairs to implement positive changes to how the House accomplishes its work. Together, we brought legislation to the Floor at an ambitious pace to meet the challenges our nation faces and deliver results for our districts while ensuring that Members could spend time back home with their constituents. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, I pushed for changes that allowed remote committee work and proxy voting on the Floor to keep Members safe while the House continued to do its job.

In these times of deep national division, the American people are looking to their representatives to demonstrate steady leadership that can provide a sense of confidence and cooperation and enable us to build back stronger from the challenges of this moment in our history. I look forward to working with you as Majority Leader to ensure that the Democratic-led House can deliver on its promises and govern For the People.

In closing, let me thank you for all that you do to strengthen our Caucus. I am honored to enjoy your friendship and serve as your Majority Leader.
With thanks and warmest regards, I am

Sincerely yours,

Steny H. Hoyer
