DARBY BOROUGH — One female employee was killed and two other people injured during a shooting on the campus of Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital on Lansdowne Avenue this afternoon.

One of the wounded was the suspected shooter.

Delaware County District Attorney Jack Whelan said the shooting took place in the psychiatric ward of the facility.

The second victim, a doctor, suffered a graze wound, he said.

The name of the female victim killed during the shooting was not released.

The suspect, whose name was not released, was also shot during the incident, according to authorities. He is reported in critical condition at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital.

“The suspect does have psychiatric issues,” Whelan said.

Authorities confirmed that the suspect, who is in custody, acted alone.

The shooting took place shortly after 2:15 p.m. at the Sister Marie Lenahan Wellness Center, a six story office building linked to the hospital by a pedestrian bridge.

I don't understand your logic, so every hospital should be heavily armed? & was it a real premonition, because not everyone can act on another person's "feeling".

I worked the midnight shift. I know that Building like the back of my hand. The Hospital policy states ALL VISITORS must turn in there weapons (except law enforcement) to Security.... Well this dr. Had his piece on him, if he hadn't broke the policy, my colleagues & innocent elderly people would have died. Dude had 39 bullets, & that floor is NARROW!... IT WOULD 'VE BEEN COLUMBINE UP IN THERE!

Ohhhhhh ok, I didn't get the full picture, because that article didn't say outrightly that the doctor had a gun. Thanks for filling it in.

Yeah I remember when I was doing partime security guard work as a second job. They had me in some fucked up parts of DC unarmed alone on sites that require at least two or three guards because they wanted to save money. :smh: Residents and people who worked in the area was worried for me like why you out here unarmed? "Dont you know they just found a dead body the other day? And another burned body in a car?" They had me shook.

After that I started wearing my metal gear concealed under my coat. :smh: Fuck the dumb shit. Good thing Dr. did the same.

Damn, that's some bullshit....

It was. I took the site on short notice too because they were giving me good pay for the hours. But the sarge that put me on detail didn't tell me the seriousness of the area. Worst part was I didn't even have a post and they wanted me to do foot patrol :smh: I said fuck that and stayed in my car.

@ Trill this will be a good time for y'all to renegotiate your contract with them. I'm sure they gonna want to ease some tension with better security now. Be safe.

Did the premonition come to you in a dream?

Hospitals have a narcotics supply and a no weapons policy.......the two don t mix....

so yes they need to be heavily armed......

Funny thing about how backwards the World Works they will fire the doctor for breaking policy instead of hailing him as a hero

Saw that shit on the news this morning. That doctor saved a shit ton of lives. The gunman had an extra three dozens rounds with him. He was ready to massacre.

Glad you're safe fam.
