Bank teller, 25, 'who texted her boyfriend and his accomplice a go signal' after a customer withdrew $75k appears in court charged with armed robbery after the woman was violently ambushed by the duo and had her purse stolen
A Texas bank employee accused of being an accomplice to a violent armed robbery appeared in court Wednesday to face charges.
Shelby Wyse, 25, was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery on Tuesday for her alleged part in a brazen daytime attack on a woman carrying $75,000 in Houston.
The mother-of-one appeared before a judge Wednesday, wearing a Whitney Houston tank top with her hair scraped up in a top knot.
Court documents state that security footage captures Wyse watching the woman while she conducted her business at the bank.
She then allegedly sent a text message to her boyfriend Travoon Johnson, one of the men arrested in the robbery, immediately after the woman left with the large withdrawal.
'Presumably a go signal,' the indictment reads.
Prosecutors say police are getting a search warrant on Wyse's phone to confirm what the text said.
Shocking footage captured by a surveillance camera shows two African-American men ambush the woman outside a gas station after following her from the Wallis State Bank off FM 1960 where Wyse was employed.
The clip, released by the Harris County Precinct Constable's office, shows one of the men jump into a car and back over the woman as she struggles to fend off the thieves.
The woman's husband can be seen rushing out of the store as she continues tussling with the suspect and soon all three are stuck in a battle over the purse.
The woman, who remains unidentified, was rushed to a nearby Houston hospital and remains in a critical condition.
