SHE WENT POSTAL! USPS worker turns violent, hurls curling iron over 'slow service' at Manhattan salon

Rachel Meyers, 26, stopped at a Century 27 Beauty Salon in the Financial District to get her hair done during a break from work on Friday. Complaining of slow service, she went berserk, cursing and hurling items, and injuring one worker, authorities say. She was charged with four misdemeanor counts.
She had an exceptionally bad hair day.

A U.S. Postal Service worker from Manhattan was busted for allegedly injuring an employee of a Financial District salon during a violent ado over her hairdo.

Rachel Meyers, 26, allegedly hurled a curling iron stand at a stylist at Century 27 Beauty Salon on Friday while pitching a fit over what she thought was slow service, according to the salon’s manager.

“She switched. She went postal,” Ravi Ramirez, 24, told the Daily News of Meyers’ sudden, violent outrage after staffers allegedly didn’t un-knot her hair fast enough.

The postal worker, who came in as a walk-in while wearing her uniform, said she was on a time crunch while on a break from work.
Meyers allegedly pitched a violent fit over what she considered slow service after walking into the salon for a 'set and wet,' after taking out a weave. What should have been a 1.15 hour appointment for a “set and wet” after taking out a weave was instead cut short after 30 minutes, said Ramirez.

“We all tried to make her feel comfortable, but she started shouting,” the rattled manager recalled.

Even Ramirez’s fiancé tried to calm her down, but Meyers allegedly snapped, telling him: “I’m 27. I’m a grown a-- woman. Don’t tell me what to say.”

The Chelsea resident allegedly then started throwing whatever she could lay a hand on including a heavy hot comb stand that she threw across the room at a stylist.

“She was aiming for their head. She looked possessed,” Ramirez said.

She hit two clients instead. One who is related to a cop started to call the police, said the manager.

As Meyers ran out of the salon, after allegedly kicking at the door while unable to get it open, Ramirez’s fiancé ran down the street after her.

“Everything turned into a ruckus. Everyone turned into animals,” said the manager who said she found Meyers' abandoned mail cart outside the door.

Meyers was collared by police nearby, with her hair described as still wet but puffed like an afro.

She was charged with four misdemeanors, including assault, and was released without bail with an arraignment on Saturday, court records show.

She’s due back in court Sept. 10.

“I have nothing to say,” Meyers said when reached on her cell phone. “Thank you. Have a nice day.”

just curious how you are paying a LOT of money. the post office does not get any tax dollars, just postage. she should be fired for destroying a business and she should be fired for taking time on the clock for personal business but anyone working anywhere else should, too.

And of course she left her mail cart abandoned on the street for this 1.15 hour appointment. After all, she couldn't deliver mail looking like just anything.

And she left a cart with mail unattended! Someone could have taken anything out of the bag! Does the post office allow employees to take lunch and the public's mail with them? Doesn't seem right.

Not only was she probably taking unauthorized work time to get her "hur did", but she trashed a salon so badly that it made the news and now her employer knows. Give this chick a medal for idiot of the year.

Why do black people love to fight with service worker employees or people who work at the counter? Is it because they know they can get away with it? No wonder they have bad reputations!

It would seem to me that abandoning the US Mail would be a federal offense. I guess it just depends on how far they want to take it.

Typical Knuckle-Head-ette! . I bet her USPS Supervisor is checking if she really was scheduled to be on break or goofing off with undelivered mail in cart. USPS pays good money even to summer temp help (if she is one)

Wow, sometimes I wonder. She had a boyfriend and told him off too, some Alpha he was. He must not have a job. Why was he sitting in the salon with her putting up with the abuse of the workers and himself? What a MAN. Wedding bells?
