I've observed this board for years, and one of the funniest things to me is this . . . I find it entertaining, and worthy of discussion because it reveals so very much.


I get a real kick out of the whining off cats on BGOL who, every time certain subjects come up, they raise up to sing the same lame ass spiritual. " She wanted a thug! "

Sure, I know EXACTLY what some cats are talking about. I do.

But when did this tragic emotional scarring take place . . . FUCKING JR. HIGH!??

Did a ninja, ever stop to realize, a woman is going to be into whom she's into, and maybe . . . just maybe they were never into YOU!!! YOU!!!!


I also have a sneaking suspicion when ninjas relate these Lamentations about, " She wanted a thug! " , they aren't talking about the Big homie block Rida Do Durty with his uncle's rusty revolver off his ritalin who was actually dangerous . . . no.

I'm not going to say what I really think as yet. But . . .

I just think some shit has to be let go.

Has anyone considered the reason why it's still being brought up, is the reason the girl didn't want you then!?

I was thinking the same thing this morning, Shane. It has become the catch phrase of a generation of men who don't want to accept the fact that they may not attract all women. Most "thugs" don't either if that is any consolation on the said above described person.

I wouldn't let it bother me, personally. Nor would I go into the sour grapes routine either. All "thugs" don't wind up in prison, or dead. Some end up in big houses in University Heights, but that is another story. You can't live your life pointing fingers and making judgment calls every time something goes awry in your life. Find your niche, make the best of it, live and let live...

I think we've taken the "thug" thing too far.

There is a price to pay for every lifestyle, and there will be a criminal class in every country. This particular country was built from another country's lumpen proletariat.

When you said "caricature", I felt that...the masquerading and posing needs to stop. Black men need to learn to respect who and what they are and let life come to them. The media needs more assassins on that front. It would help if our society had more definitions of black masculinity in fields other than sports and entertainment as well.

In most communities there is balance in the types of examples--there are thugs, and captains of industry, and romantic poet and balladeer types, and charismatic scholar / professor types, and blue collar hardworking men, men in uniform, etc. etc.

Unfortunately, we've been teaching our youth for the last 20 years that the only attractive strong successful men are thugs squeezing their dollars out the street.

I realized this at age 15; did a chick homework thinking I would get some type of attention. She smiled at me when I was done, and kept moving. Lol, the Internet is anonymous but I'm still embarrassed that I did that. I recognized that I got played, made adjustments and got better for it. (Last time I did her work for her).
