Don Imus is back—and Rev. Al Sharpton is surprisingly okay with that.

Imus buddy Bo Dietl dropped heavy hints on a radio show over the weekend that the aging shock jock will be back at WFAN no later than September. That would mean a mere five months of wandering in the wilderness for the I-Man, who was fired in April by CBS Radio and MSNBC after calling female college basketball players "nappy-headed hos."

Sharpton, of course, played no small part in Imus's downfall, even inviting the man onto his radio show to apologize to viewers only to declare his apology inadequate. Yet the Rev. tells Radar he would not oppose Imus's return this fall.

"My position is that <font size="4">we</font size> never called for him to be permanently barred from being on the air," he says. <font size="4">"We'll</font size> see when he comes back, and if he comes back, what are the boundaries and what is the understanding. <font size="4">"We'll</font size> be monitoring the situation, but <font size="4">we</font size> wanted him to pay for being a repeat abuser, and he paid. <font size="4">We</font size> never said <font size="4">we</font size> didn't want him to make a living."

As for the claim that Imus is seeking a black comedian to "take the sting out" of his racial humor, Sharpton says, "A sidekick is not cover. What he needs to give him cover is his own conscience and whether he'll live up to the apology he gave those Rutgers girls."

Ha Ha. You know who the "we " are. It's those who speak for all the aggreived Black people. Wheather you want them to speak for you or not.

I dispise when Sharpton is asked to speak on behalf of all "Black America", but this time I think he's speaking specifically for his group. Those people that were vocally outraged about the Imus comment.

Sharpton simply picked up a check. That's what he's been about since Twanna Brawley. Selling principle to the highest bidder.

And if Imus goes on Satellite Radio, then he can say whatever he wants.... its "pay" radio. Thats a lot different than "free" radio.

Al sharpton can only speak for himself with his own personal opinion.

He doens't represent the whole black race period.

The only persons Imus needed to apologize to were The Rutgers and Tennesse women's B-Ball teams.

To smear a group ( as disgusting as he did) in defeat was totally WEAK in my book. And Dude's remarks totally took the joy away from the Lady Vols championship win.

Imus didn't need to apologize to EVERY Black Woman/Person, just those groups IMO.

I used to have respect for Sharpton. I marched with Dude against crack houses, police brutality, etc. throughout the 80s. Sharpton's a cartoon now.
I just can't stomach much of him anymore.

As a sidenote to all of this...

If these sistas were so proud, why did they all show up at their press conference with straighten hair, weaves, etc?

Were they so afraid of their nappy hair?

And, as a sidenote to all of that ...

Maybe we are just as unaccepting of us as the Imuses of the world are too -- and judge us just as harshly (and prejudicially) as they do. When will WE learn that WE are as diverse as the universe; and stop trying to define us, based on looks, in ways that only divide?
