Seriously, who can really outflow Canibus

Chino XL

Back in the1800s I was burned at the stake/
Metaphor Mephistopheles/ Degrees I've achieved/

But you would go insane upon hearing it/

What the fukk?!!! this nigguh is no joke.....

Rass Kass

Also pharoh monch, and talib qweli come in as honorable mention

Canibus is a gifted battle rapper and dope lyricist but that's it. He's not versatile with his flow at all. If we're talking about spittin in terms of flow and flow alone, Pharoah, Busta, Jay, Eminem, Andre 3000, are some of the best in terms of consistently being able to attack a beat/melody in a unique way.

But that's what I'm talking about..

One on one with a mic..

true, battle wise he's probably the best. but the thread title is who can really outflow Canibus...those people I named can.

Flow doesn't really matter in a battle anyway and is mostly showcased in song format...which is not Canibus strong suit (again, due in part to his lack of versatility in his flows).

So battle rap he's pretty much untouchable. But flowing over tracks he's far from elite.

Or more importantly.. WHAT HAPPENED TO LYRICS IN HIP-HOP?

All you kats are str8 Trippin'

Canibus is nice (but TOO much worthless word play). . . but he failed to best several cats on the same track . .Plus, he's a ONE TRICK PONY of the Battle Rhyme variety.

Pharoahe Monche got the better of him on "Internal affairs."

Killa Priest eats that dudes LUNCH ALL DAY, and so does Rass Kass

AND, we haven't even gotten to the realest critically thinking MC (not rapper).

Any Canibus song bites dirt up against this guy . . . .

i'm not denying Kool G's talent but i've NEVER seen the big deal w/ him. he may have OWNED The Symphony but he was never that serious to me. now Ras Kass, Pharoahe, GZA, Killah Priest, i agree 100% w/ you.

Did you hear the radio show Ras Kass & Canibus did when Bis absolutely destroyed shyt. ( Not the one w/ Krondon ).

He dropped that line about Kray computers.. I gotta find it but Bis killed that shyt dude..

Again, he doesn't always make great songs but if you let that son of a bish loose on a radio show or on stage, it's curtains..

Either way,. I'd rather talk about mafuckas w/ skills than get depressed w/ the state of Hip-Hop.

It is what it is, but Nobody in my top 5 EVER went platinum . . Yet ALL of them understand, and employ effective use of key literary devices supported by organized and structured patterns that emphasize and convey the INTENT of a word or verse . . . which is to recreate a visual scene in YOUR head, while appearing casually prosaic.

If I were stranded on an island with few materials, I NEED to think. And MY top 5 provide that for me. I'm not impressed with Vocab . . . because I have that my damn self . . . but I'm not a poet. Those guys I punctuated by red in your above quote, now they're a rare balance individual that do MORE than assemble cool words together . . They utilize them sparingly. By doing that, the words, and the communication intended calls forth your OWN mind to complete the 'picture' in a way that NEVER insults you by completing the 'picture' for you. You become participant and student to the narrative . . And that's hip hop to me.

My 2 worthless pennies.

I hear cats saying Chino XL?Are yuo fucking kidding me?When has Chino dropped knowledge in a rhyme besides talking about how many fans he stole from D'angelo on some pretty boy whiney type shit?

Dont get me wrong,I think Chino is Ill as fuck with it and I bang some of his tracks, but in no way is he better than Canibus.I didnt like how he said he can "switch ethnicitys when convenient", becuase hes a half breed. Also didnt like one of his lines:

"Battling Chino is like Africa, yeah they talk about it but they dont really wanna go there"

The fuck? I want to go to Africa...
who fuicking with Chino?Crooked I is 10x's sicker than Chino,he just isnt as consistant as Chino has been, but the flow, content, versatility and delivery?Serrrves Chino:
Example: http://www.sendspace.com/file/drj0x3
But dont get me wrong,Chino is sick with it and has many quotables.

..back to who fucking with Canibus?Thats a very hard question.Canibus delivers it nicely, tons of quotables, has sick flow, and ABOVE ALL,DROPS KNOWLEDGE,but sometimes he can get boring becuase he seems to lack versatility.Rip the Jacker was his best effort, because the production by stoupe mixed perfectly with Canibus's style.Canibus's style just doesnt agree with a broad spectrum of styles of beats, and thats where his lack of versatility is accounted for.

Canibus is in my top 5(my top 5 are in no particular order).I view my top 5 as being on the same level of god status, but ill drop 1 them right here to open your mind to other possibilities:
---

http://www.sendspace.com/file/ibmlmj

"refuse to be another fucking slave thats stuffed in boats"
"I love black,i wish that i was two shades darker"
"What i think is Logical, to you is physically impossible"
"I walk out the jungle in Bear-Skin Coats"
"You so dumb, that it numbs your brain"

Jus Allah has tons of quotables.Every quotable is so intelligent that it becomes comedic.HE DROPS KNOWLEDGE.Delivery is SICK and is evolving with time.Flow changes PLENTY.

:smh: To stay on the topic of the post..'who can outflow Canibus." I think Canibus has a wacc flow. To me flow = riding the beat/riddim well and I DON'T think he does a good job at that. To me his pitch and tempo doesnt match the beat well. same as a lets say jadakiss....same raspy voice almost same flow on every beat. An example would be Jay-z, not sayin his lyrical content is better or worse, on Mya's best of you remix..'yes yallin jigga man be ballin/ leave chiccs pigon toed/ some ah them be crawlin.' Bullshit lyrics but the flow was great...like double dutch on the beat. To me Canibus compramizes his flow for lyrical content. He needed to know that he doesnt have to write the bible in one verse.

Again, this is what I always fall back on because I'm a lyric dude first and foremost:
Quotables.
There's a ton of things to factor in when trying to determine "best" or "greatest", but this isn't about that. Take Big or Nas or whoever you want and then go through your memory roladex for lines that they dropped that made you say  OOOH SH*T! FUK OUTTA HERE! and there will be many by them. But I'll go as far to say that 'Bis has one of those lines PER SONG. Most of us by now know the website, but if not, hit up OHHLA.com and actually read the sh*t this cat writes. Its insane.

 Yezzir

Kool G Rap, Crooked I, Canibus, Eminem have came with the illest Flows ever on the mic....

Yall better peep that Crooked I dude, yeah I said it, that Nigga from the West and he's the Truth.

If DOC hadnt lost his voice, he woulda became one of the coldest.
But you young muthafuckas wouldnt know about that. You would have to listen to the whispers coming outt his mouth on Helter Skelter to know what Im talking about.

Yeah, if you mean riding the beat that opens up a lot of doors. Shyt, you could talk about Jay-Z on "Dirt of ya Shoulder", Big on "Hypnotize", Em on "I'm Back", Pac on "Me & My Girlfriend",. Other guys like Method Man, Snoop, etc have example of riding the track. Of my favorite examples is Mos Def on "The Corner" remix w/ Common & Scarface. To me, that joint is one of the rare classics in todays' desolate hip-hop scene.

I was going more for 1-on-1 on a mic type scenarios tho.

I been out the game lately, you gotta post some Crooked I music. However, you gotta put Nasir in that group too. His flow is monstrous when he's focused. I'd also say Pharoah & Royce might have to be in that group too along w/ some others who I might be overlooking.

I agree dude. His lyrical content is BEZERK!!!!! I know if it's possible to have more quotables than Bis. He's got so much music with so many lines it's ridiculous.

Canibus got some bars but he just aint entertaining. His flow is ALWAYS the same no matter what the rhyme too.

Check this out...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5j0t8WVpeI&mode=related&search=

I'd rather hear 10 seconds of either DMX or Nore saying their usual shit than 10 mins of Canibus' boring shit. Its not like he didnt get his chance either, he was all over Hot 97 for a minute back in 98 and Wyclef put him on hard. His album dropped, it was wack, he blamed Clef, he joined the army. The end. I aint tryna hear nothing new from him.

Aint nobody fuckin with the canabis man... I'm glad to see cats showin him some love.. if he could have ever got some real production he would have been straight

But what are you talkin about?

The thread title asks who can outflow Canibus.
Then you ask 'lyric for lyric" who is in the same league.

1. "Flows" and "lyrics" aren't the same thing.

2. These guys all have better flows than Canibus's:

Black Thought
Pharoah Monche
Eminem
Biggie
Andre Benjamin
Cee-Lo
El-P
Aesop Rock
Ghostface
J-Treds
Gift of Gab (from Blackalicious)
Lupe
J-Live
Big Pun
Mos Def
Chuck D
KRS
Royce 5'9
T.I.
Twista
Busta Rhymes

3. And 'lyric for lyric' comparisons depend on what kind of lyrics you are talkin about. If you are talkin about (battle-centric) hyperbolic punchlines and layered simile sequences Canibus is pretty much in a league of his own. But that is a kind of lyricism, not the crown of lyricism.

I've been a Canibus fan since I first heard him on "Beasts from the East" (spittin 50 bars) 10 years ago. He is outstanding at what he does. But 'one-on-one' lyric champ???? --- not with guys like this out there:

Aesop Rock
Labor Days
"Boombox"

[flash]http://www.youtube.com/watch/v/Wjz4VvrKBbg[/flash]

Lyrics:
Raw, I'm going to give it to you
With no trivia
Raw like that Aesop rock iron-fisted list militia
While bent funny bone grown community
Spit a thousand and 1 ripples to cripple the continuity
Tap water builds character
Right I irrigate it straight to mainline
You want to do the same? Fine
These pretty profit grommet teams solidify the clot to slippery city salt piston pump drain
But hold those incredible console with the Russian roulette baboon spin-off
Where everyday a thousand strangers pray for empty chambers
One-sixth buckle
Five Sixths sweat bullets trying to keep it subtle
But I'll get you (I'm going to get you)
Wobbly rope bridge
Broke inches tired of dry land
But duck skull stepping-stones suit the mix-down well
Well, when the rumor spreads that y'all stupid
I'll be the cat with guilty look on face and shirt that reads: I didn't do it!
Is it on, is it beyond basic
Does it ice grill you or is every song faceless?
Does it have a title? If didn't would you name it?
Does it babble about nothing like a drunken atheist?
We could run that Orwell '84 war
For the room 101 detour
Where each client fidgets with his or her own worst fear specifics
Swerve around the cobra kisses
See if the venom overloads this vision
I'm going to suck the poison out and spit it
Stole my sneakers but your feat just never fit in
Serves you right for trying to walk a mile outside your limits
I'm going to tiptoe across this yo-yo string
Until you walk the dog out from under my feet and skip town, sit down

(Chorus)
It goes boom boom boom
Boombox

Earth to a-r vertical burden has increased at an alarming rate
Bliss is down a point
Murder up, glee down and still falling
Still crawling out of bed at 2 on Saturdays
Came this blind soldier-burning confessional
Ease back; let a heart thump echo normalcy for 10
Let the back burner boiling point descend
I race the derby in the first heat (strike personal)
Strike personal space with the most utterly putrid version of grace
Spit the gimmick, sit and fidget
While we try and jump through hoops
Like Coney Island freak show midgets
Want to be a fighter pilot
Driving that childish early Wright brothers experiment
Prototypic model fossil
Sit and sweat bullets on a console
Busting accidental dirt bike donuts
Outside the most ridiculous poison tongue brain silo
Dead before the chubby debutante conquered the high note
Schooled by the cruel intention inventions pensive sideshow

See contrary to popular certainty
I alone advance without an earthly poem
And dance on a handful of zoning fans
Holding every chance to own the land I roam
With dome in hands
Truly be its only camper happy with the scrap heap
See I convinced myself it's on
Therefore it is and the melody settles
Beneath the fact that I'm just spitting for these kids
I tried to get them all open
And once I quit and said I didn't care
That's when they all threw their hands up in the air

Canibus is good at a certain kind of lyric.
But he is dwarf in the world of abstract metaphors (for example).
And on a related note....has anyone ever actually heard Canibus freestyle off-the-top?

I expect backlash but Cannibus lyrically can't fuck with the whiteboy be real.
Call me all the names you want the white boy can spit. I'm truthful wit it I'll take a broke eminem over cannibus anyday. I'm not saying he's the greatest I'm just saying canibus and alot of rappers out there can't stand next to this dude when it comes to lyrics and metaphors.

"Anybody better than 'Bis must be a hoax. Black man? NO. What about the white hope? What?! Man, you must be sniffin great white coke, don't you know that's like Gary Coleman fightin' the HULK? Still not even quite that close a great white biting your rubber dingy boat 50 miles out from the coast."

Actually I'll take Chino XL over Canibus but thats besides the point.

Like Jay-Z said...“Cause you don't understand him, it don't mean that he nice / It just means you don't understand all the bullshit that he writes.”

I've heard Canibus say some shit that has made me rewind..rewind..rewind...shake my head in disbelief...throw my hands up OH SHIT and say wow! I will never say he aint nice because he is.

The one thing I notice is that he was offbeat on damn near every beat they threw on in his freestyle. His flow is pretty much the same everytime...same voice patterns and style pretty much which to me doesnt make you a MC with a nice flow. I like MC's that can jump on a beat and ride it like a tidal wave (example Eminem on Renegade..or Jay...or Biggie). Canibus' timing being off tells me that hes just rappin and spittin but he aint trying to flow. His vocabulary is impressive and lyrically he is nice if we talkin punchlines but he cant tell a story...he cant paint a picture. His songs are like a movie with some good action scenes but the overall the plot is bad which makes it a bad movie! Trust me there is a reason a nigga this nice cant make a dent in the industry!

I like Papoose, Saigon, Royce Da 5'9" (The Bar Exam Mixtape is DAT SHIT!...Royce came hard!), Ras Kass, Black Thought, Talib Kweli just to name a few with vocab and a real flow!

But again...to each his own!
Yet people won't be this critical with Lil Wayne. When I do it, I'm a hater.

http://www.poetlaureateinfinity.com/

i dont think anything like this has been done before.

This fool has 5 200 bar verses that you can mix and blend to make a infinite rhyme.

you can even switch up the beats...

all 5 verses are INSANE. no matter what you say about bis, you gotta give him a A for effort.

I feel excited like i used to back in the day...I feel like telling everyone about this shit...Whens the last time you got excited about a hip hop song?

Bis has definitely earned his way in the hip hop history books with this song.

I like how the poetlaureateinfinity site has an Egyptian style... connects to Black Culture.

Fuck the flow, no one can top Canibus lyrically. Him and Em have been teasing little battle rhymes at each other... but if they do battle, you have to go with Canibus. Eminem has been getting worse with each album lyrically (and production wise), and Canibus keeps getting better.

Kool G Rap is iller than Canibus don't get it twisted he was elite with the craft but his best line he ever spit was when he told LL the Greatest Of All Time died on March 9th Cannibus don't have lyrics that can fuck with Big lyrics

Read below if you think Im lying:

I'm sitting in the crib dreaming about Leer jets and coupes
The way Salt shoops and how they sell records like Snoop
Oops!
I'm interrupted by a doorbell
3:52, who the hell
Is this?
I gets up quick
Cocks my shit
Stop the dogs from barking
Then proceed to walking
Its a face that I seen before
My nigga Sing, we used to sling on the 16th floor
Check it
I look deeper
I see blood up on his sneakers
And his fist gripped a chrome four-fifth
So I dip
Nigga, is you creeping or speaking?
He tells me C-Rock just got hit up at the beacon
I opens up the door, pitiful
Is he in critical?
Retaliation for this one won't be minimal
Cuz I'm a criminal
Way before the rap shit
Bust the gat shit
Puff won't even know what happened,
If it's done smoothly
Silencers on the Uzi
Stash in the hooptie
My alibi, any cutie
With a booty that don't fuck the Pop
Head spinning, reminiscing bout my man C-Rock

[Chorus: repeat 2X]

Somebody's gotta die
If I got, you gotta go
Somebody's gotta die
Let the gunshots blow
Somebody's gotta die
Nobody gotta know
That I killed yo ass in the mist, kid

[Verse Two:]

Filling clips he explained our situation
Precisely, so we know exactly what we facing
Some kid named Jason
In a Honda station waggon
Was bragging
About how much loot and crack he stacking
Rock had a grip so they formed up a clique
Small crew
'Round the time I was locked up with you
True indeed
But yo nigga let me proceed
Don't fill them clips too high
Give them bullets room to breathe
Damn where was I?
Yeah
One night in town
Blew the fuck up
D-Rock went home
And Jay got stuck the fuck up
Hit 'em twice
Got 'em right for the virgin white
Pistol whipped his kids
And taped up his wife
He said "Yo Rock, set em up", no question
Wet em up no less
Than 50 shots in his direction
How many shots?
Man nigga, I seen mad holes
What kinda gats?
Hitch links, Cocks, and Calicoles
But fuck that
I know where all them niggas rest at
In the building hustling
And they don't be strapped
Supreme in black
Is downstairs, the engine running
Find a bag to put the guns in
And c'mon if yo coming

[Chorus]

[Verse Three:]
Exchanged hugs and pounds before the throw down
How its gonna go down
Lay these niggas low-down
Slow down
Fuck all that planning shit
Run up in they cribs
And make em catch the man n shit
See niggas like you do ten year bids
Miss the niggas they want
And murder innocent kids
Not I
One niggas in my eye
That's Jason
Ain't no slugs gonna be wasted
Revenge I'm tasting at the tip of my lips
I can't wait to feel my clip in his hips
Pass the chocolate
Thai
Sing ain't lie
There's Jason with his back to me
Talking to his faculty
I start to get a funny feelings
Put the mask on in case his niggas start squealing
Scream his name out
Squeeze six knuckles shorter
Nigga turned around holding his daughter

Uhh, its the ten crack commandments
What, uhh, uhh
Nigga cant tell me nothin bout this coke, uh-huh
Cant tell me nothin bout this crack, this weed
To my hustlin niggaz
Niggaz on the corner I aint forget you niggaz
My triple beam niggaz, word up

(chuck d) one two three four five six seven eight nine
Ten

I been in this game for years, it made me a animal
Its rules to this shit, I wrote me a manual
A step by step booklet for you to get
Your game on track, not your wig pushed back
Rule nombre uno: never let no one know
How much, dough you hold, cause you know
The cheddar breed jealousy specially
If that man fucked up, get your ass stuck up
Number two: never let em know your next move
Dont you know bad boys move in silence or violence
Take it from your highness (uh-huh)
I done squeezed mad clips at these cats for they bricks and chips
Number three: never trust no-bo-dy
Your momsll set that ass up, properly gassed up
Hoodie to mask up, shit, for that fast buck
She be layin in the bushes to light that ass up
Number four: know you heard this before
Never get high, on your own supply
Number five: never sell no crack where you rest at
I dont care if they want a ounce, tell em bounce
Number six: that God damn credit, dead it
You think a crackhead payin you back, shit forget it
Seven: this rule is so underrated
Keep your family and business completely seperated
Money and blood dont mix like two dicks and no bitch
Find yourself in serious shit
Number eight: never keep no weight on you
Them cats that squeeze your guns can hold jobs too
Number nine shoulda been number one to me
If you aint gettin bags stay the fuck from police (uh-huh)
If niggaz think you snitchin aint tryin listen
They be sittin in your kitchen, waitin to start hittin
Number ten: a strong word called consignment
Strictly for live men, not for freshmen
If you aint got the clientele say hell no
Cause they gon want they money rain sleet hail snow
Follow these rules youll have mad bread to break up
If not, twenty-four years, on the wake up
Slug hit your temple, watch your frame shake up
Caretaker did your makeup, when you pass
Your girl fucked my man jake up, heard in three weeks
She sniffed a whole half of cake up
Heard she suck a good dick, and can hook a steak up
Gotta go gotta go, more pies to bake up, word up, uhh
