In reconstruction era America, black families in the south (especially New Orleans) would sell their daughters to rich white men and feel privileged to do so. There has also never been laws on the books saying white men are barred from smutting out black women. This is why the reaction YOU get bringing a Becky home is different than the reaction black women get bringing a CAC home. "Oh she looks so happy", "love is blind" etc. I dont know about percentages, but Excelsiors point that a lot of black women give passes and wont condemn this like they do black men who do it is spot on. I know I shouldn't care,but this bothers me. With the guidance and support of their father, they defeated the odds,fought racism,fought against attacks on their self esteem,ignored claims of them being ugly,called cheaters,fought all that and amassed great wealth. Then they turn around and marry CACs and give that wealth back to white folks. And yes they might have been dogged by celebrity black men,but thats not because they were black but because they were celebrities. We dont know how she truly feels about her dad. He really pushed those girls to be great. Sometimes children try to find someone the polar opposite of an "overbearing" parent, even though they love their parent deeply. Ive seen this with my own eyes.
