SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — Oscar-winner Gene Hackman, his wife and their dog were found dead in different rooms of their Santa Fe home, and they had apparently been dead for some time, according to investigators.
Hackman, 95, was found dead Wednesday in a mudroom and his 63-year-old wife, Betsy Arakawa, was found dead in a bathroom next to a space heater, Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office detectives wrote in a search warrant. There was an open prescription bottle and pills scattered on a countertop near Arakawa.
Denise Avila, a sheriff’s office spokesperson, said there was no indication that any of them had been shot or had other types of wounds.
The New Mexico Gas Co. is working with the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Department in the investigation, spokesperson Tim Korte told The Associated Press.
The utility tested the gas lines in and around the home after the bodies were discovered, according to the warrant. At the time, it didn’t find any signs of problems. A detective noted that people exposed to gas leaks or carbon monoxide may not show signs of poisoning.
Chris Ramirez, spokesperson for the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center, which runs the state’s medical examiner operations, declined to comment on whether any conclusions had been reached on the cause and manner of deaths of Hackman and Arakawa

I saw it listed when I was looking through Gene Hackman's first movies, but I've never seen the movie. I'll see if I can find it. Withbthe torrent site RARGB gone, It's getting harder and harder to find shit that is old. I'll see if my TiVo box has it

After actor Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa were found deceased in their Santa Fe residence, authorities are now calling their deaths "suspicious."
Originally the family believed the likely cause of death was a gas leak or carbon monoxide poisoning.
However, a Santa Fe detective who sought a search warrant wrote in his affidavit, he believes "the death of the two deceased individuals to be suspicious enough in nature to require a thorough search and investigation."
Here's some of the suspicious findings:
The front door of the residence was found open and unsecured.
A deceased dog was laying 10-15 feet from Betsy Arakwa in a closet of the bathroom while a healthy dog was found roaming freely on the property.
There was a heater that was moved.
There was also a prescription pill bottle that was opened with pills scattered next to the female.
Gene Hackman's body was located in a separate room of the residence.
And there were no obvious signs of a gas leak.
Very strange scene unfolding in Santa Fe.
Something is very suspicious about this.
They found dead in different rooms.....she had a bottle of pills in hand.
And on top of that the dog dead too.....if it wasn't carbon monoxide....then something or someone had to kill all 3.

Gene Hackman was a great one. I mean he could really do the damned thing. While crimson Tide is one of my absolute favorites, he has done his thing on the big screen for many years. And even though he had been in retirement for at least the past 20 He also served in the Marine corps, so Semper...

I saw articles saying their bodies were found mummified and decomposing?
They don't define what mummified means with this incident. Did someone wrap their bodies?
EDIT: I read some clarification. Mummified means the bodies were dried out from decomposition for some time.
Theories are assuming the wife found him dead and she took her own life with the pills.
Who knows at this point. But they had to be dead for over a month is my assumption
