Example: My Great grandfather purchased a home in LA after he came back from WW1. All of the family stayed with him. During WW2 my moms worked to support the family and her brother was out getting high and fucking up. Fast forward to the late 50's and Gramps passes away. He leaves everything to moms and my Uncle didn't get shit. He had issues with drugs and alcohol and died broke, homeless and alone. Most of his kids are fuckups and can't keep shit together. If Gramps would have left it to both of them, he would have fucked it up on drugs and they would have lost that investment. My father added apartment units to the home and used that to send all 3 of his kids to college. I still own it, and we are using the money to send my Niece through USC.
None of us pull cash out of the properties, or floss with cars and jewels, we invest it back into them. All of them are paid off now so Gramps 5K investment in the 20's worth 7 figures. Pop's 22K investment in the 60's is worth 550K.
So many of my friends inherited the same kinds of property we did, but they squandered it, or smoked it off, or sold it for pennies cause they wanted to floss NOW.
Until we fix this, we can't keep what we earn and pass it down to the next generation. The next generation has to stop wanting instant gratification and think long term. You don't think I want a Bentley or a 6 series Benz? A platinum Rolex? I just have to plan a way to purchase these items with soft cash flow, not adding new loans on paid for property.
