Scarlett Johansson's Lucy opened to a winning $44 million at the North American box office, an impressive start for an action film featuring a female heroine. The movie, directed by Luc Besson, easily showed more muscle than Dwayne Johnson's epic Hercules, which debuted at No. 2 to roughly $29 million for director Brett Ratner.

Side note...how many years has Morgan Freeman been coasting? Dude pretty much played the same type of character he was in Transendence..guess we can assume all old guard heavyweight actors are pretty much done with challenging themselves...Deniro, Pacino, Freeman, Denzel all are pretty much on auto pilot at this point..:giggle:

The Lucy storyline is a very intriguing one and obviously a lot of people were eager to see it.
Hercules has been done already.
 

Honestly didn't even know that Hercules was out. Thought it dropped next week, which I did think was weird to put that out against Guardians. I think that they should have put this movie out in August. It wouldn't have worked going up against Guardians and it clearly isn't working going up against the current 'it' white girl in Hollywood movie.

It also doesn't help that we've just had a Hercules movie within the last 12 months or the fact that that movie was shit. The only recent movie similar to the point of Lucy was Limitless, and even then they could play the​
'girl version so it's clearly different' card. The story of Hercules is .... Hercules. We've seen it a dozen times, including a couple of months ago. Everything about Hercules seems like a mid-August dumping ground release and not a late July summer block buster release.

Those guys get cast because that performance is exactly what you want. Roles are written with them in mind, and if they pass it gets changed to match the new actor
 
Hercules was good but an audience preferred a white super human over a black half god hero....what's wrong with America?
 
i choose lucy over herc cause i thought lucy was gonna be on some matrix shit it was an ok movie but not what i expected.

Nah, Bret Ratner was the problem. His name attached to a film is same as M Night Shamalamadoo.
 
Is this the first bomb for The Rock? If so, he better fall back on a guaranteed sequel or franchise film for next time, so he doesn't line up multiple bombs.

I really liked the Rock's version of Hercules. Lucy was weird as shit and stupid. That movie will fall off hard these next few weeks. Hercules will drop too because of the Guardians, Ninja Turtles and the James Brown movie.

It might be a good flick, but I'll wait till it's on cable.

A series of nineteen Italian Hercules movies of the "Sword and sandal" film genre were made in the late 1950s and early 1960s.

Hercules Against the Moon Men, Hercules Against the Barbarians,

Hercules Against the Mongols and Hercules of the Desert were all originally Maciste films in Italy. (See "Maciste" section below)

Hercules and the Black Pirate and Hercules and the Treasure of the Incas were both originally Samson movies in Italy. (See "Samson" section below)

Hercules, Prisoner of Evil was originally an Ursus film in Italy. (See "Ursus" section below)

Hercules and the Masked Rider was actually originally a Goliath movie in Italy. (See "Goliath" section below)

None of these films in their original Italian versions involved the Hercules character in any way. Likewise, most of the Sons of Hercules movies shown on American TV in the 1960s had nothing to do with Hercules in their original Italian versions.

Hercules (1997), American animated feature, produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation.

The Amazing Feats of Young Hercules (1997), in which Hercules must complete four feats of heroism with his weasel companion Falina.

Jason and the Argonauts (2000), in which Hercules (Brian Thompson) travels all the way to Colchis with the Argonauts.

Little Hercules (2009), Little Hercules travels from Mt. Olympus to live life as a mortal in Los Angeles played by Richard Sandrak.

Immortals (2011), in which Heracles is played as one of the Olympian gods by Steve Byers.

The Legend of Hercules (2014), directed by Renny Harlin and played by Kellan Lutz.

Hercules (2014), directed by Brett Ratner and played by Dwayne Johnson. Based on the comic series by Steve Moore.

i went to see Hercules this past weekend...it was ok...it got good reviews..but, i guess Hercules was a movie that chicks and young folks wasn't impress to go and see it!!..i heard that Lucy movie was wack!!..:smh::smh:
 
Lucy won because if white women empowerment and white males gazing over Scarlett. If this was Kerry Washington, it would of been $15 -20 millions
