I'm glad you were born in the antebellum South. Perhaps you would be one of those people justifying slavery as a states rights issue.

There are many things people can do, and one is to put political and economic pressure on them to change. People only change if they are forced to do so and overthrowing a nation won't necessarily lead to the desired behavior. It is most likely to instill a sense of nationalism within a group and they will hold onto their customs as all costs.

There are so many thing that can't be accomplished there. There King doesn't run the the people. The Imam's DO. They don't want change. So since the Imam doesn't want to change, their respective villages/mosques/sects/tribe don't want change. Any law the King would make would just be ignored.
