Sanyo 50" Class Plasma 720p 498$

So, LCDs are better in your opinion.

It seems in most situations plasmas have a better picture. Of course plasmas are going away since new technology is always coming out(lighter, less power etc) But,as far as the LCD I didn't get(Sony Bravia), it had a better picture than the one I have now, but it was $300 more, that's why I didn't get it. I regret that because it looks better than my Sharp LCD 1080P, which I think is beaten by my Samsung 720p plasma. I still won't go as far as saying buy this or that, but compare pictures in the store. I doubted myself and went with what the "experts" were telling me about LCD and regret that shit.

No ones mad because they are telling the truth. Plasma is better. I have done so many accommodations for these TV companies and man Plasma is the better product.

i'm not doubting you...if plasma is the better product then why are they dropping the prices so low??? i'm not saying you're wrong, i just don't know. i'm looking to buy another TV myself this friday. the prices on plasma's have fallen so much it just concerns me to why that is the case. it just seems like something is wrong.

I must say even I don't know that.

Its amazing that anyone would think something is wrong.

Nothing is wrong. Just like other technology, as things get older, new things come out, which make existing products drop in price. Now we have many makers and retailers with plasma and LCD TV's. There are LED sets now, 3D, smart TV's, and now smart TV's are slowly becoming the norm.

Need it simpler?

A person who is willing to get the best for their money might be willing to drop a bit more money to get a 50+ inch plasma, that is 3D, and a smart internet friendly TV. Hence, dropping the desire and price of normal plasmas.

Nothing is wrong. Thats just crazy thinking.

I'm thinking that it's because there is less demand for them . People seem to like the features and advantages of LCD/LED over plasma, thus they are objectively the better choice over plasma.

As I said, I really tried to convince myself to buy a plasma over an led tv 2 weeks ago and the led won. The picture was always better.

it's like i said, i just don't know...your explaination helps a lot though...maybe the public is just moving towards buying newer technology even if it's not that much better, which is resulting in the price of plasma's dropping

The Reason why Plasma TV's are Dropping
in Price is..."Market Perception"
(This makes a Lie become a truth)
It's so strong that LCD Picture has become
better, clearer & longer life than Plasmas
When it's not....

Who are these idiots bashing Plasmas. Many of you guys are talking about early plasma technology that wasn't so good. I have 3 Pioneer Elites the oldest being 6 years old...my son plays his XBOX and PS3 on it daily and have no problem. Plasmas show the best picture of all TVs on the market and most will last 6 years with regular tv watching.

Since Pioneer technology was bought out by Panasonic I would only buy a Panasonic plasma..
and never a SANYO:smh:

bgol home of the ignorant dumb nigga. I have 2 plasmas and one LCD. The plasmas shit on the LCD. Also 2006 and up plasmas last as long as anything. No tv is broadcast in 1080 so stfu you dumb fucks.

Glad I found this thread! I have 3 LCD's right now (32" Samsung, 46" Samsung 120Hz, and 32" Olevia). I was planning on picking up another TV on "Black Friday" and turn the Olevia into my computer monitor.

The TV I'm looking at is the Panasonic TC-P46c2, a 46" Plasma. It's on sale at Best Buy for $499. Is it a pretty good set? Anybody know anything about it?

I think I read this on Cnet.com or somewhere. But the reason that there is such a price reduction... are a few reasons. Retailers are trying to get rid of their stock of basic technology televisions. With all the "Smart TV" stuff being the vogue.

I also read that most retailers as a whole are OVERSTOCKED because they OVERSTIMATED THE POTENTIAL SALES OF 3D TV's and SMART TV's. Basically folks didn't come in DROVES to purchase the newer more expensive technologies. So the retailers need to clear the stock of base models. Thats why 720P tv's are at blow-out prices now.

I can see that.

Just like how blu ray players are so cheap now.

Was looking at this same set. Panasonic makes the best plasmas, it's a good buy.
