S+ expired, should I get CYSA? I got 2 years in a SOC doing entry level traffic monitoring.

It depends on what route you want to go in your career.. do you want to get into pentesting, vulnerability management, risk management, security engineering??

I want to get into a damn job, I have 2 years as a very basic SOC web traffic monitor.

I never used siem or firewalls at the job, it was racist cacs who just hired me cheap and fired me smh.

So I want to get back into Cybersecurity because the networking route isn't working so I am consider IT Security Analyst Level 1 or something like that.

So I need a cert, my S+ expired and I didn't renew it because I was too broke and couldnt get a job so I just let it go, felt it didn't do anything.

So whatever the natural course is whether CYSA, then upwards or whatever.

I want to try to get into Pentesting though, racists crackers didn't teach me shit.

With info/cyber security, you have to teach yourself. You have to setup labs.. you can't blame the white man for everything. Youtube is also your best friend when trying to learn new concepts. Go to Vulnhub and download you some vulnerable virtual machines and try to hack them. Also, pay attention to the writeups on the boxes so that you can learn and understand the techniques that were used to exploit. Learn how to use tcpdump/wireshark to collect packets so you can observe the network traffic and make sense of what your seeing. Make sure you have a thorough understanding of the OSI model as well as TCP/IP. Also stand up a small network (VMs and virtual routers/firewalls) so that you can create your own experience. Also look at certifications from TCM Security as the are affordable and are getting well respected in cybersecurity..

i got my complete CISSP notes....chapter by chapter if you want em?
That's over my head without the right experience, I'll stick to something to get me in the door first again.

My degree is this.

But Network Operations and Security, it was updated to engineering last year.

Found a simulation for a internship from my school since I emailed them, will be back in a few days after I complete it.
