You're joking right? Jerry is a mediocre manager and Minaya made 2 shitty moves for every good one he made. Now I will say that the problems lies further up, the Wilpons are some of the worst owners in baseball, and the son needs to resign. Hand off operations to people who know what the fuck they're doing. Did they say who's being considered for the jobs?

Think of the Knicks and how much of a joke management is. Now apply that to the Mets.

Jerry isn't a great manager but I can't give him majority of the blame in this. I mainly blame Omar. He bring in Oliver Perez to a ridiculous contract who will give you 3 good innings and then gets into trouble in the 4th and collapses from there. Luis Castillo who is pretty much good for a sac bunt and whos legs are done. Oh and the latest, Jason Bay...who's bat isn't made for a park like Citi and hasn't played since that concussion some time in the summer.

Jerry isn't the type of personality the Mets need. Now if they were already a consistant 80-90 win team maybe but right now they team needs some type of leadership (since non of the players can step up to that position) and it isn't really coming from the manager. They need a guy that can/will get fiery.

Now the Wilpons (as been reported but not confirmed by them) is that they took a big hit with the Madoff situation so the checkbook's been tight. We needed a corner outfielder who can hit (got Bay) but more so a #2 starter and made no moves. I doubt they will spend money this offseason either but honestly the whole team needs an overhaul. And a new GM and manager is a start (tho new owners would be better).

Minaya's only mistake (and I been saying this for two seasons) was not trading for Roy Oswalt. Mets have needed a second strong starter to take some of the pressure off Santana for the past two seasons. Pelfrey might be that guy one day, but he is not ready for prime time just yet. Minaya could've made this deal last season when Oswalt's value was at an all time low.

He makes deals for head cases like Ollie Perez but never for a real pitcher (200 innings)
