Mayor Rudy Giuliani will not be president-elect Donald Trump's Secretary of State.
America’s Mayor was once considered to be at the top of the running to become the nation’s top diplomat.
However, a release from the Trump transition team said that Giuliani, a visible face for Trump on the campaign trail, withdrew his name from consideration for a position in the new administration on Nov. 29, according to a statement.

"Before I joined the campaign I was very involved and fufilled by my work with my law firm and consulting fir, and I will continue that work with even more enthusiasm," the former mayor, who is a Vice Chairman on the transition team, said of the decision.
Trump has 'broadened' list of secretary of state candidates
Giuliani had at times openly lobbied for the position, touting his foreign policy chops and telling the Wall Street Journal last month, “I probably have traveled in the last 13 years as much as Hillary did in the years she was secretary of state.”
However, concerns were raised that part of Giuliani’s international experience came from his business ties to countries including Qatar and Venezuela.

Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul said last month that the financial dealings were a "hornet's nest" and that some Republicans may oppose a Giuliani nomination.
Giuliani did not immediately respond to a request for comment about the decision to withdraw his name.
LUPICA: Giuliani did nothing to earn top State Department job
There was some concern that the former mayor could become a critic of the administration if he does not get the top diplomatic job, a source close to the transition team told the Daily News.
Giuliani was said to want Secretary of State after defending Trump during some of the darker moments of his campaign, but may have been happy with other roles in the Trump administration such as ambassador to Italy.
Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney has been a consistent name on the transition team’s Secretary of State list, which is now thought to include retired Gen. David Petraeus, former ambassador to the UN John Bolton and ExxonMobil CEO Rex Tillerson.
