Roseanne Revival Ratings Are Dropping; Hit New Low Update: CANCELLED! and BACK AGAIN

Seems Like We Can't Get Rid of Roseanne Barr That Easily; Comedian Speaks Out About Job Offers She's Received Since Racist Rant

In another life, maybe Roseanne Barr was a cop or something. Or, maybe this is just peak caucasity at work. Either way, it looks like we may not be getting rid of the washed-up comedian any time soon, at least not after her racist rant a little less than two months ago.

According to Barr herself, she is already considering a new offer to return to TV.

“Inside every bad thing is a good thing waiting to happen and I feel very excited because I’ve already been offered so many things and I almost already accepted one really good offer to go back on TV and I might do it,” she said, with all the faux stoicism she could muster. “But we’ll see.”

Barr revealed her apparently good fortune to her friend, Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, in a new podcast that was released on Saturday night, ABC News notes.

Barr didn’t offer any details about these job offers, but there you have it; Roseanne may be down, but apparently, she’s not out.

So much for comedianJerry Seinfeld’s theory that her firing from the ABC reboot Roseanne was overkill because “she’s already dead.”

Barr was quickly dragged to the depths of hell in May after she thought it was a great idea to refer to former President Obama’s senior adviser Valerie Jarrett as a product of the Muslim Brotherhood and the Planet of the Apes in a tweet.

ABC dropped her quicker than the proverbial hot potato even as Barr released a torrent of white tears, insisting that she wasn’t racist, then claiming she was woozy at the time she was tweeting because of Ambien, then claiming that the tweet was really about anti-semitism, before ultimately crying in another podcast interview released earlier in Junewith Boteach that she “lost everything.”

“I’m not a racist, I’m an idiot,” Barr said.

Whatever it was, looks like those white woman tears are paying off.

In all of this, Barr said that while she apologized to Jarrett the same day her tweet got her in trouble, she intends to reach out to Jarrett to apologize privately, you know, after two months.

“I do [plan to call],” Barr said. “But once again, it’s all about the right words and you have to do a lot of meditating and praying for the right words and I just don’t know what the right words would be.”

Now all of a sudden, you have concerns about the “right words” when you didn’t seem to give a damn before, Roseanne.

Roseanne: Her Character Will Die of Opioid Overdose in Conners Spinoff

Embattled sitcom star Roseanne Barr reveals that ABC's upcoming spinoff The Conners will kill off her character via an opioid overdose. While it doesn't happen all that often, one of the hardest hits for a popular show to try and recover from is losing its lead character. For example, ask fans how fondly they tend to remember The X-Files seasons without Mulder, or Sliders without Quinn Mallory, or The Officewithout Michael Scott. Viewers naturally grow attached to protagonists they come to know over the course of years, and losing that bond can prove impossible for a series to overcome.

This is the hurdle ABC's upcoming Roseanne spinoff The Conners will have to try and jump right out of the gate, as - for obvious reasons - former star Barr won't even be able to make a guest appearance or two to try and streamline the transition. After two decades off the air, Roseanne of course returned to ABC earlier this year, to excellent ratings and mostly good reviews. The network quickly picked up another season, only to reverse course and cancel the comedy after Barr unleashed a racially-charged Tweet that drew a firestorm of criticism.

Barr's longtime co-star John Goodman recently confirmed that The Conners would likely kill off the Roseanne character, and during a recent appearance on a politically conservative Youtube show hosted by Brandon Straka (via IndieWire) Barr herself revealed how Roseanne Conner will die. According to Barr, "They have her die of an opioid overdose." Despite previously promising to remain neutral concerning The Conners, Barr also said that her character's death is an insult to fans of her former show, stressing that the decision has been made, and she has no say in things at this point.

Roseanne fans will recall that during the series' brief revival, the titular character was revealed to have developed an addiction to opioids in the form of various medications she had been taking to ease the pain in her injured knee. Roseanne and Dan had been putting off her surgery due to the fact that having it done would come with a $3,000 insurance co-pay. Roseanne had been keeping her addiction a secret from Dan, who when he found out, insisted that she have the surgery, regardless of what they had to do to pay for it.

Since very, very little is still known about The Conners going into the spinoff's October premiere, it's unknown whether Roseanne Conner's deadly overdose will take place before or after the surgery was scheduled to happen. While one would logically assume that she'd stop taking the pain meds once her knee issues had been resolved, an addiction like that can't simply be defeated by will power, and Roseanne could easily have continued struggling with her problem after the surgery was a success. Whatever the exact circumstances end up being, it'll be interesting to see how The Conners' writers manage to pivot from such a tragic death back to sitcom-style jokes.

With just one week to go before the premiere of The Conners, the sitcom’s stars have kicked their promotional tour into high gear. Last night, Conner family patriarch John Goodman visited Jimmy Kimmel Live, where he tried to avoid spoiling anything else about the Roseanne Barr-less spin-off series. Goodman more or less succeeded on that front, but he made waves when he insisted that Roseanne “gave up a lot” to get The Conners on the air. During the segment, Goodman described Roseanne as his “buddy” and said that the disgraced comedian is immensely “missed” by the show’s cast and crew.

Goodman told Kimmel that he was left adrift after Roseanne’s racist tweet got the sitcom canceled. “Last year was so miraculous and so unreal that when it went away it was almost like a dream,” said Goodman. The sudden cancellation shocked Goodman, who “crashed for a couple of weeks” and spiraled downward. “All kinds of weird stuff happened. My wife got sick right after that. Then I fell down the stairs,” said the actor.

But things picked up when ABC green-lit The Conners, a development that Goodman insists was Roseanne’s doing. “Roseanne basically renounced her financial stake in the show so that the show could keep going,” said Kimmel. “Yes she did. It was an effort by Sara Gilbert, Tom Werner. And they got ABC to come around,” replied the actor. Referencing Roseanne, Goodman said, “She gave up a lot so that people could work.”

Goodman was careful not to spoil details about The Conners, but he promised that Roseanne’s presence is felt on set every day. “She is missed, definitely. After that many years, it’s like a family,” he said. “It was very weird doing the first show without her, because she’s my buddy.” Goodman then doubled down on his earlier comments, saying that The Conners owes a massive debt to Roseanne. “She gave up a lot for us to be able to do the show. I can’t thank her enough,” he said.

The Conners premieres Tuesday, October 16 at 8/7c on ABC.

With The Conners now settling into a comfortable groove and earning a season renewal, in comes Roseanne Barr, right on schedule, ready to talk some more shit about the racist tweet that got her fired. In a new interview with the Washington Post, Barr now believes her Roseanne co-star Sara Gilbert is the reason her life and career came tumbling down, because of how Gilbert chose to respond on social media to her now-infamous tweet. “She destroyed the show and my life with that tweet,” Barr said, convinced they will never reconcile after what happened. “She will never get enough until she consumes my liver with a fine Chianti.”

The tweet in question occurred shortly before ABC officially chose to cancel Roseanne, with Gilbert writing how Barr’s views were “abhorrent and do not reflect the beliefs of our cast and crew or anyone associated with our show.” Fellow co-star John Goodman would later say he believed Barr’s tweet was “dumb” and “incoherent,” although he was “surprised” that she was fired.

When asked for comment by the Post, Gilbert insisted Barr’s animosity was a one-way street. “While I’m extremely disappointed and heartbroken over the dissolution of the original show,” she explained, “she will always be family, and I will always love Roseanne.” The Conners, which served as Roseanne’s official spinoff, concluded earlier this year to decent reviews and ratings. Goodman, Gilbert, and everyone from the main cast returned for the show.
