At Fort McNair, an army base located along the Potomac River in the nation's capital, a chance reunion takes place one day between two former POWs. It's the spring of 1974, and Navy commander John Sidney McCain III has returned home from the experience in Hanoi that, according to legend, transformed him from a callow and reckless youth into a serious man of patriotism and purpose. Walking along the grounds at Fort McNair, McCain runs into John Dramesi, an Air Force lieutenant colonel who was also imprisoned and tortured in Vietnam.

McCain is studying at the National War College, a prestigious graduate program he had to pull strings with the Secretary of the Navy to get into. Dramesi is enrolled, on his own merit, at the Industrial College of the Armed Forces in the building next door.

There's a distance between the two men that belies their shared experience in North Vietnam — call it an honor gap. Like many American POWs, McCain broke down under torture and offered a "confession" to his North Vietnamese captors. Dramesi, in contrast, attempted two daring escapes. For the second he was brutalized for a month with daily torture sessions that nearly killed him. His partner in the escape, Lt. Col. Ed Atterberry, didn't survive the mistreatment. But Dramesi never said a disloyal word, and for his heroism was awarded two Air Force Crosses, one of the service's highest distinctions. McCain would later hail him as "one of the toughest guys I've ever met."

On the grounds between the two brick colleges, the chitchat between the scion of four-star admirals and the son of a prizefighter turns to their academic travels; both colleges sponsor a trip abroad for young officers to network with military and political leaders in a distant corner of the globe.

"I'm going to the Middle East," Dramesi says. "Turkey, Kuwait, Lebanon, Iran."

"Why are you going to the Middle East?" McCain asks, dismissively.

"It's a place we're probably going to have some problems," Dramesi says.

"Why? Where are you going to, John?"

"Oh, I'm going to Rio."

"What the hell are you going to Rio for?"

McCain, a married father of three, shrugs.

"I got a better chance of getting laid."

Dramesi, who went on to serve as chief war planner for U.S. Air Forces in Europe and commander of a wing of the Strategic Air Command, was not surprised. "McCain says his life changed while he was in Vietnam, and he is now a different man," Dramesi says today. "But he's still the undisciplined, spoiled brat that he was when he went in."

McCain doesnt realize the people who chose him to be the repub nominee did so to destroy him.
He'll be more of a shell than kerry or gore

great snippet

McCain's self-described "four-year course of insubordination" ended with him graduating fifth from the bottom — 894th out of a class of 899. It was a record of mediocrity he would continue as a pilot.

BOTTOM GUN

In the cockpit, McCain was not a top gun, or even a middling gun. He took little interest in his flight manuals; he had other priorities.

"I enjoyed the off-duty life of a Navy flier more than I enjoyed the actual flying," McCain writes. "I drove a Corvette, dated a lot, spent all my free hours at bars and beach parties." McCain chased a lot of tail. He hit the dog track. Developed a taste for poker and dice. He picked up models when he could, screwed a stripper when he couldn't.

Bottom Gun :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Indeed. John "Goose" McCain :lol::lol:

McCain must be part Nigerian - how else could he try to scam the nation with being a pow hero when he was the worst student to ever come out of the naval academy and not much better as a pilot- got shot down for his stupidity in the cockpit snitched like CI - ditched his disabled wife :smh: McCoward

i am intrigued by this perspective...do u care to elaborate:)
Kerry and Gore were like McCain - unelectable. They have no personality and McCain is like an albino piranhha who doesn't know shit. McCain was totally out of the running but when the powers that be saw an Italian idiot, a Mormon and a Southern Preacher as their options for nominee they dragged McCain from the edge of the cliff and pumped him up to be their guy. Obama is the choice, just like Bush was and Clinton before him. Now that the nation is in shambles it will take a populist to console the masses to keep taking the government/economical assrape. If you try that with President Piranhha or President WindSurfer there is chaos. If you try that with Obama you get compliance. Its like the abusive husband who beats his wife's ass then brings her flowers and takes her out in between beatings.
The people who control the nation's wealth control the nation. They must continue to get more and more of the nation's wealth. Tank the economy and buy everything cheap - Wachovia, Lehman, etc all on sale for way less than their true value.

McCain thinks he has a shot because he's an idiot. They never liked him. They thought he was a bitch from back in the Keating 5 days. John has no nuts. He's scared to go all the way for them. They cant trust someone like that. Sure John is going all the way now but its too late. These guys delude themselves into thinking they really got a shot like Kerry did or Dean. The media controls in totality the view we have of these candidates. If they wanted Obama to be a loser he would be regardless of whether or not he was a moron or a scumbag. 100 million people didnt think GW was OK just because he said so - dude was a coke fiend and alcoholic with a DUI and his wife killed someone with her car- he bailed on his national guard pilot bullshit gig that he used to hide from vietnam and he failed in every business he ever ran but somehow no dem could come up with a way to bring any of that up. Its bullshit. They could do the same for McCain but they wont. That says alot. The people who control the media conglomerates arent on board with McCain aka have other plans.

That article literally picked his life apart and showed him to be an overpriveleged, spoiled brat. Someone who has never had to take accountibilty for some of his deplorable actions is nowhere near qualified to be the prez. Good read.

He's so blinded by the reflection off of his silver spoon (like most republicans) that he has a jaded perception of reality. But what scares me is this - "He and other neoconservatives are dedicated to converting the world to democracy and free markets, and they want to do it through the barrel of a gun." If this fucker wins the economy will tank even more and the country will be at war his entire term. He'll use that old "if you don't agree with me you're unpatriotic" bullshit and prey on the fears of the public to institute bullshit policies to protect the power and wealth of the wealthy and the sense of entitlement they have come to expect. The rest of us will suffer and then it'll be like well "I'm in power now and it ain't shit you can do about it!". That attitude and their failure to accept responsibility (and shift it) for their fuckups really gets to me. Just once I'd like to hear Bush say "I fucked up."

Send this article to everyone in your contact list. I knew that fucker was crazy but this article scares me shitless.:smh: Sticky this damn post because....
