Yes Rickey was correct and Comedy Hype was wrong, their audience knows who she was by now and didn't need to mention the Katt incident.
Not only do they remember her for her last moment, they remember her for her first and only moment that they were introduced to her.
When one's introduced to someone in a negative fashion as Wanda was to most, then that's who they think she is/was and what they remember her for.
So the reactions to her and her death are not a surprise.

You, many others and Rickey are remembering the good Black woman who was a Mother, friend, comedian and a woman who had a long career helping those in her community.

And the Gayle/Kobe incident is entirely different. The world knew Kobe, the world didn't know Wanda and was introduced to her by her negative actions and attitude towards Katt.

It's complicated...while there are things that they did that were good, the good that they did was built on the back of some truly bad behavior. My whole point about Wanda Smith was that her overall life should not be defined by this bad moment. While she did initiate and go back and forth with Katt, to Rickey Smiley's point, there's also a story where she helped him out. We don't know all the other good things that she did in life. This is why I'm glad there are people like Rickey and others that are speaking out because people wont remember what you did, but how you made them feel.
