Report: Michael Jordan agrees to sell ‘large piece’ of Charlotte Hornets

I think its because he knows a lot of changes coming to the league. Plus I'm sure on the next CBA, these owners ain't going to be afraid of a lockout this time around. Ish bout to hit the fan cause I'm sure these owners bout to be set on reducing salaries overall and adding some type of clause for all these load management ass niggas.

Nothing worst then saving to buy these high ass tickets just to show up and your favorite player is "choosing" to sit out. Not cause he legitimately hurt.

Fuck these diva ass niggas.

It doesn’t have to do with being priced out. Even if we have the cash, you have to be voted in by the board of governors as well (80%).

LeBron will eventually own a team but no other player will have the popularity and ends...maybe Shaq.

Shaq is a minority owner in the Sacramento Kings.

I think that you have the NBA confused with MLB in terms of salaries. You can't sign anyone for more than 5 years so no player is making 400 or 500 million in a contract. Right now the top guys top out just over 200 mil which is great money but waaaaay less than 500 mil.

Teams are evaluated has highly has they are because fan attendance has been high and their TV contracts ae escalating at a very high rate. Their last TV deal with Turner Sports and ESPN was a 200% increase on the previous deal and their looking for between 50-75 billion for the next one.
You’re right. I meant to say that a single player could be (over his career) as valuable as a quarter of your franchise. Even MJ, the greatest player in history wasn’t worth a quarter of the bulls franchise.

You always hear numbers thrown around, like each team is making so much money. The Charlotte hornets brought in about $183m in revenue last year. If they sell for $2B, that means someone is willing to pay more than 10x revenue, which is ridiculous for a non-growth asset. Mind you, the Hornets have to pay $120M in player salaries. That means it only had $63m to pay everyone else in the organization. I’d be surprised if it made a profit.

The values of NBA franchises has ballooned, even though star power is down and so is viewership. Now is a perfect time to cash out.

I don't get this. The Jordan brand makes billions every year from the Nike deal. Michael Jordan can print money. Maybe he's just sick of owning a team
I think he's tired of not being good at something. As great and as competitive as he is, he sucks as an owner and I don't think he can deal with that. It's not about the money

Listen to this racist CAC. Jordan “just” a great basketball player. What about the fact that Jordan brand is probably the most successful brand in sports.

I hates smug White people. Jordan was better than this idiot in everything in life.

At least he just the face now:rolleyes:
He wasn't a bad owner compared to Shinn anc Johnson. He's one of the few reasons the team isn't in Vegas.

I will admit Charlotte mad some bad picks prior to Melo and Miles. They were never going to be a big FA destination despite being owned by Jordan. Nobody wanted the scrutiny that came with playing for him.

People acting like he lost despite making $1.5B of the deal are crazy. That Jew played the fuck out of Mike but it still doesn't make him a bad owner. A lot more things could have been way worse for him to sell
