Rental: Can you be charged a Fee if your Rent is Late BECAUSE of the Post Office?

Blaming it on the Post Office is bullshit! You have all month to pay the rent and if you wait until the last minute to mail it, hoping that the Post Office delivers on time, then the fault is yours!

some lease agreements specify that if you're mailing in your rent it should be postmarked by a certain date @ the latest...the 2nd, the 3rd, the 5th etc
