Yes, I know BGOL is full of virulent atheists but let's just look at it from a Catholic standpoint.
Pope Francis gives the OK for priests to unofficially bless same-sex couples, does Francis really think these unions are going to be celibate and not want to raise children? Sex outside of marriage is a sin in Catholic doctrine and since gay people can't get married, they are encouraged to be celibate.
Francis just opened a door for same-sex couples and thus gay sex because for many gay Catholic couples, this WILL be treated as a "marriage" and these couples will have sex and will want to raise children and since the same gender can not reproduce, apart from adoption, surrogacy is a widely used option for gay couples to have children.
You can't close the door on surrogacy while seemingly opening the door on gay marriage with the allowance of priests to unofficially bless same-sex couples. It doesn't add up.
