Born January 15, 1971, She is an actress and director. She is the recipient of various accolades, including an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and four Primetime Emmy Awards, the most for an African-American performer.

In 2019, Time magazine named her one of the 100 most influential people in the world. King first gained attention for her role as Brenda Jenkins in the television series 227 from 1985 to 1990. Notable roles followed in the films after she appeared in the movie Friday (1995).
