Ubuntu free was not design for Server Hardware. The premise behind UB it's easy to install. So easy in face anyone(windoze users etc) could pickup a CD and use it.

Plus redhat for years had a rock solid distro. Very good in fact. They decided to make money off of it. And the Major Players (Dell IBM HP Etc) accepted it for their server markets.

The Fedora Poject is the free version of redhat. I stoppoed using Redhat 7(only use Mandrake or Backtrack) years ago but I only use Redhet(Rpm packages) based distro's.

Well, one reason is that Red Hat is prevalent in corporate enterprise environments. Most companies don't run free distro's for mission critical shit. Running a free distro for a mission critical app is a quick way to get fired as a sys admin. If your shit goes down, and you have to tell you boss that the only support available is the Tech forum on BGOL, you better have a backup plan as far as work goes.

So, if someone wants to get their skills up as far as getting employed, this might be a way to get started.
