1984...ALBUM>>>ESCAPE>>>WHODINI...I saw them on the FRESH FEST TOUR in '84 or '85 with RUN DMC, LL, FAT BOYS, KURTIS BLOW, UTFO and about 5 other acts.
This track and style was so far ahead of its time. But it took them a minute to drop an album. By that time many had stole the sound and rhyme style. But that my take on it.

Unfortunately a lot of early 80's hip hop hasn't aged well. I give the old school artists props and respect for laying the groundwork in creating a new art form, but some of it sounds dated and corny.
On the other-hand, Whodini still knocks. RIP to Larry Smith, the most underrated hip hop producer of all-time. I put him in my top 5.

I listen to early 80's, mid 80's and late 80's HIP-HOP for what it is and was at that time. As you know the music went through some radical changes in the 80's. I really don't listen to much of the new stuff unless I catch a underground mix show or something where they digg'in and playing good music from the top 40 path.
I was just trying to through some different 80's flavor in the mix. I hope you enjoyed it.
Larry, was a monster and many kats have no idea regarding his breathe of work and all the hits he's responsible for. Yes, I agree definitely one of the top 5 greatest producers of all time and totally unsung.
