I didn't mind The Real World when Mtv first put it out. I thought it was refreshing.

But after that first major writer's strike, more and more of these kinds of shows have been popping up and now with this latest strike, television will be rampant with them.

How do you feel about them? Do you think they aren't as "real" as they claim they are?

I can't front. I catch America's Next Top Model, American Idol, The Bachelor, Top Chef, Hell's Kitchen, and The Biggest Loser from time to time.

I love to watch Run's House and Kimmora Simmons Life in the Fab Lane.

I never liked Flava of Love, Charm School or I Love NY either. But I did catch The Surreal Life and Celebrity Fit Club on occasion.

I think if anything is authentic about reality tv is that it's pure comedy.

when it first got popular, i cant lie i was a fan. but throughout the years, it's began to really be watered down and stupid.
i was really surprised that some of these so called "reality" shows were scripted...but real world to me was probably the best reality show they ever made. but flavor of luv, i luv ny, and that keyshia cole reality show has gave me a new found hateness for reality series.....

I don't like em, they just show an overall lack of creativity and the "themed" ones are about bullshit and usually fake drama.

Add to that the fact that most are scripted and it comes off even worse.

Reality TV is trash for the most part. I do watch certain things. Anything life changing like Celebrity Fit Club or anything on HGTV or Food Network where I can maybe learn something is good. I can't front though, I watch America's Next Top Model, some of those girls are fine as frogs hair. That Lisa chick this season was a slice of heaven when she wasn't crying. I would wife that Saleisha girl quickly.

I don't care . Why should I hate it or love it ?

I like them because they keep you laughin  plus you get to see people embarass themselves on real tv. my favorite one was bad girls

i like it when only 3 or five reality shows were on tv u was amped like a mofo just to see it. I like college hill, ANTM...thats it. With more people tryin to get quick money and shit...reality shows got very very stupid.

I like a few of them... ANTM and Project Runway are cool. Real World used to be good, and the RW/RR challenges...but now.. I can't get into it... Run's house is a guilty pleasure..

But I dont watch shows like Survivor, Hell Date, etc., Reality TV is running rampant right now and I HATE it!!!

Trivia question:

What's the first reality show?

Hint: It's not Real World

Probably PBS's An American Family (early '70s), featuring the Loud family.

Or ... Cops (1988), if you wanna stick to more recent groundbreaking reality shows.

I could take 'em or leave 'em. I don't watch them too much, because many of those shows just seem corny to me. Flava Flav's show was okay the first go-round, but I can't take anymore of all that. I do watch ANTM, Project Runway, Top Chef, Kimora's show (I LOVE her), and some stuff on the Food Network. I used to watch the MTV stuff, but it's clearly all about youngins going through silly ass drama.

Reality TV is why I dont watch television anymore. I'm on my 360 at night. Havent watched television in almost 2 years.

I hate reality shows but I must say tonites episode of nip/tuck about the reality show was quite brilliant.
