In Chi we stil have freestyle sessions and battles. Older heads still show up and show they nice. I've never seen violence erupt though. It may be because thug rappers in Chicago don't really battle. It's only emcees for the most part... and we've got careers, mortgages, and families to worry about so we can't bet our lives on a battle...

I would submit that Rock music, particularly Heavy Metal Rock music attracts devil worshipers and serial killers.
It may have a causal affect in high school and college suicide attempts.
It may persuade mild mannered kids to become disenchanted, depressed, detached, disrespectful and violent toward family members and society in general.
These kids may eventually become suicidal or go on a killing spree because they listened to metal music embedded with satanic subliminal messages.
It also attracts anarchist and skinheads who's mindset is to hate, kill and destroy every race that are not aryan.
It also attracts creepy sadomasochist weirdo's who crawl out of their darkened room to prey on innocent victims.
If you had've focused on Gangsta rap then your statement might of had some validity to it.
But to castigate the rap music genre in general does not hold weight in my opinion.

Rap music attracts killers, thugs, teenage rebels, criminals, the poor, those with limited education etc.

Not true at all. Certain types of rap is negative. It's just spoken word, or poetry with a beat and a melody behind it. More people have been killed over religious music than any other form of music. This nations theme song "star spangled banner" talks about "bombs bursting in air". The last time I checked, bombs kill more people than hand guns. That's not a rap song. More people have died at Michael Jackson concerts than any other type of concert in the world. He does pop music. More youth have committed homicide and suicide over listening to heavy metal, goth and rock music than rap. When we were being lynched, crackas were playing their banjos and singing country music and gospel anthems as we suffered and died. Did you know that?

Rap started off as a tool of education and revolution, like the crips gang. Cointelpro changed the game though. Comon nigga you know "most" hip hop is about thuggin'. Sure there are some sprinkles of positivity here and there, but than aint the type of shit niggas be crankin in their trucks and bangin at the clubs. Most of it is on some type of criminal shyt where ninjas create thug fantasis about being ganstas. You know this. And yes, hip hop is the damn problem. True. I was acquainted with quite few niggas from the west side who didn't live to see 25, 22 for that matter. But, things tend to be more desperate on the east side. West side mother fuckers, at least the ones that I knew, had two parent families, nice houses, well maintained lawns and all of that good shit. They just chose to be knuckleheads. The typical nigga on the east side has nothing to lose. Growing up, I knew a couple of niggas who didn't have stairs attached to their front porches. You had to take a running start and just jump up on the porch.

I can't speak authoritatively on the west side because I have no intimate familiarity with it. I moved straight from the east side to Royal Mother Fucking Oak, with no stops in between. And to tell you the truth, I rarely take my black ass below I-696. Because I know how shit can go from zero to someone lying dead in the street just like that *snap*.
