Former Def Jam female rap artist BO$$ is hoping to utilize the power of social networking to find a potential donor for a kidney transplant.

Sources told AllHipHop.com that BO$$, born Lichelle Laws, was suffering from a pre-existing medical condition called renal disease.

Renal disease is a medical condition that causes the kidneys fail to adequately filter toxins and waste products from the blood.

A source close to the rapper said BO$$ is currently undergoing dialysis on a regular basis, but is now in need of a transplant.

She turned her attention to Facebook.com, after hearing a local news story about a man who found a donor, after his wife posted an urgent message on Facebook.

Friends of BO$$ recently launched the "Rappers Need Kidneys, Too" campaign with Todd davis and 8055 Records.

The campaign is aimed at spreading the word to all potential donors for BO$$, in addition to raising awareness about kidney diseases within the rap community.

BO$$ is best known for her #1 hit single "Deeper and Deeper," which was released in 1993.

Anyone interested in participating in the campaign can contact lichellebosslaws@yahoo.com.

yeah kidney disease can really be rough to deal with. but we as humans can operate with one working kidney as long as we dont abuse it. i wish her luck

Hold on was she like one of fake gangsta rappers even though she came from a middle class family in Baldwin Hills or something? Or was that a hoax too.

this is my favorite BOSS joint with Spice 1. I use to blow speakers with this shit!

Wish her the very best. We had a member at work almost die on us in August of 2009. He's got a myriad of health concerns (including obesity, Type II Diabetes, hypertension, asthma, heart disease in the family, and paranoid schizophrenia) and he experienced fluid on the lungs, bladder issues, and renal failure (the latter 3 things all in the matter of a week). Came on very suddenly. Hell ... they discharged him from the hospital at 10:30am one Saturday and he was back in there by 5pm. Really scary stuff ...

Wish her the best.....

Stupid question, but are artists who ae under contract with a record company have their medical expenses covered? I mean, is it like a JOB like most of us have where we have coverage? I mean, reading on Nate Doggs passing last month and how he/his family were broke. Do recording artists have medical coverage under a label?
